I have the BMS front mount intake and am very happy with it.

I will be installing the MST in a few weeks

I have them on my car, no issues.

We have also been selling front mount intakes on previous-generation M for years without any problems.

Reputable companies would not release this design if there were any real risk of damaging the engine.

Is there supposed to be any real difference in performance or sound between this BMS "front" mount vs their "top" mount intakes?

I wouldn't be worried about water getting to the engine, but surely rain and splashes from the street will hit the front mount filters, so I'd think they'd see some extra dirt and debris quicker compared to the top mount.

no performance difference, only a sound difference as the filters are located in different locations.

Have you heard both to be able to offer your thoughts on differences? Or maybe there's another thread I should find?

I did not as I only tested with the front mount intake (sounds great btw )

Could you explain best fitment? Is it better made? Also, do you think the heat shields on the MST actually do much? It's a hundred bucks more than the BMS and just wonder if it's worth it?

Thanks!

We installed the BMS intake, no fitment issues at all.
We will soon be installing the MST intake and posting our feedback as well

Here is the video of the BMS intake install

I have the BMS intake and have had no fitment issues. The intake sounds is intoxicating. It turns head (for those on the street) when I'm accelerating in Sport mode.

I was originally planning on going with the carbon fiber offerings, but how often does someone look under their hood. My other concern was the enclosed design may limit the sound since I bought the intake primarily for sound.
