I can only assume BMWs design team were under pressure so got pi55ed one night with a set of rulers and set squares. They came up with a design then just as they sobered up before presenting it remembered they forgot the lights.

Flecking awful.

I do very much like those seats. But the exterior... abomination is the word that comes to mind.

Concept car so not surprising to see some of the details “out there” but it is pretty bizarre. Hints of iX interior with a shitload of buttons lol, that seat looks darn comfy tho

Haha, with BMW for a while you don't know if they just want to fool everyone or are serious with that crap - it's like politics: you think it can't be worse and BMW like: hold my beer 🍺…
Holy cow is that ugly

Yes, it looks like they want to hold off the reveal of the all-new M/M Performance/M Sport steering wheel which is going to be mounted on future models (including, I assume, the production XM), and which has already been spied on the G60 5er, i.e. similar to the 2er AT but with a flat-bottomed rim

...all the while already officially revealing that they are finally jumping on the flat-bottomed rim bandwagon. Which results in this quirky mix of old and new gen styles. The production XM may still get that perforated bottom spoke in the end.

Many years ago, American designs looked to personify utter vulgarity and excess with a lack of aesthetic grace or modernity. At the time, BMW was one of those european brands that had true design progression and elegance.

How things have changed. Tesla, now look like they have inherited that mantle and BMW are trying to evoke the truck style vulgarity that for a time only US designs could produce.

Truly the end of an era if this design or anything close comes to market.....

Better than the Bangle butt and that multi year disaster. But not by much.
