Remus Exhaust

Remus UK posted a very brief clip of their upcoming exhaust for the G8x.

https://fb.watch/v/l15IxxhcW/

It's impossible to fully judge it with such a short sound clip but honestly I think it definitely sounded better than the MPE and even the Akrapovic.

Looking forward to when we can get some actual full on comparisons between MPE, Akra, Remus, etc.

Haven't done a full exhaust in the past.
Is Remus supposed to make better exhausts than Akra?

Honestly, not sure. This will be my first full M car so it will also be my first foray into the world of aftermarket exhausts for a BMW. Hopefully others can chime in with their first hand experience.

I had a full Remus on my F90 M5, a fraction of Akra and arguably just as good sounding although Im biased.

The quality of the metal and welds are excellent and the sound was deep down low and exotic up top. Again not apples vs apples but this is my car in the video:

My terrible point Im making is that if Remus can do this to the F90 for 1/3rd of Akra, Im hoping they can improve the G8X straight six as well to a better level.

That does sound good on the M5. I agree if they can do something similar to the G80 and for a good price then Remus may be the way to go.

concur, just get an improvement over the stock as the S58 can not sound like the S63.

Remus makes good shit. Akra is overpriced imo. Plus exotic metals are not exactly money well spent on a 4000lb car that costs 80-90k. Also the stock ecu isnt gonna give u noticeable butt dyno power gains with any of these. Mainly throttle response if u start taking out secondaries and resonators with smaller diameter internals.

Remus makes high quality parts, and have excellent customer service too. I had their catback on my F80 and it sounded amazing when paired with the right parts. Had an issue with their carbon tips that was 110% my fault but they still took care of me anyway.

Now, that doesn't guarantee success on the G80 platform, but they're very reputable with great customer service. Looking forward to hearing what they've got in store

They also are the largest exhaust manufacturer (over 1 000 employees).

Their exhausts are always one of the best because of unmatched pieces of equipment and support (12 million dollar sound room, in-house full race track, 2 in-house dynos, etc...), not to mention robotic machines make their exhausts

An unknown fact about REMUS, they manufacturer the OEM exhausts for the AMG, Alfa Romeo, and a vast majority of European supercar brands).

here is a quick video I took when I visited the REMUS factory in Austria

I'm in the same boat as you, are you worried about breaking your warranty when you swap exhausts?

The warranty would be one of the reasons I'd go for the MPE over aftermarket but so far the aftermarket options seem to sound better and look better.

I've only ever done one after market exhaust on all of the vehicles I've owned over the years, but I would have to imagine that very little issues could be the result of the exhaust so long as it was installed properly.

I swear, why is it so hard to just get a rear section for this car....

Remus even wants to reem me with the mid part (which Ive modded already) and the tip pricing. Shit the tips, JUST THE TIP, is heavy....

But I love the sound.

Question about Euro after-market exhausts

I had a Supersprint exhaust way back in the day on my E36 M3. (Tips stuck out slightly toward the side like in some European race series.)

While the tone was much better than stock, it wasn't very loud. I eventually learned that was because the European exhaust manufacturers had to (or wanted to) comply w/ strict European sound limit requirements.

Is Remus making something that does not comply w/ European sound regulations? I.e., is it loud enough?

I wish they would have sold the extra pipe to connect to the downpipes and get rid of those secondary cats. They sell them in Europe supposedly but not in the states. I tried searching for flanges so I can make my own custom pipe, but had no luck. I may gut out my secondary cats or see if I can find a muffler shop that can make one for me. So far I found no one who wants to touch those secondary cats.

I placed an order for the Remus Race exhaust with silver tips. Going to powder coat them gloss black, that will help get rid of the R.

Apart from that, this has to be the best sounding exhaust I've heard for the G80. Others are way too raspy for my taste.
