I'm sure it didn't. This is the kind of thread that the site should really like. Creative and with widespread interest and applicability. And he contributed greatly to it.

Great thread. Few questions:
1 - Anyone with a manual do this mod? Any drone on the cruising at low revs or on the highway?
2 - Anyone know the thread and pitch of the three bolts?I like the idea of a spacer and remounting it.

open, default / factory, activated seems like a no-brainer. i mean you bought a valve controller in the first place so you probably want it working to do its thing the majority of the time and without the annoyance of having to hit buttons every time you start the car to do it. But you can still retain factory control as an option for the situations that you need it.

anyway that's how i have mine set up and i've only activated the factory control once or twice since installing it.

Has anyone gone into the M-mode menu turned off the sound control and driven with the exhaust flaps wired open? If so can you comment on the tone / sound?

I'm going to give this a try and see how it sounds.

I ordered the same. I got an email from X-PH saying that the item gets dropped shipped from the vendor and it's backordered at the vendor but shows in stock on X-PH.

No ETA.

I have it done with the fake sound turned off and it sounds great in efficient mode and m- mode both. You can really tell the difference from one to the other. I am very happy with the free mod

I spoke to the manufacture. He said he had units shipping out Monday. To who, I dont know. But he did mention getting supplies to build them was an issue right now.

The exhaust by itself with no active being pumped in did okay but here is the interesting thing I found with the active sound button as I'm assuming nobody would have thought this. Not only does the button control the flaps for quiet mode, fake sound generation, but it also makes the burbles louder on the outside! I know a lot of people have talked of Bimmer Coding the active sound out but I did a test standing outside the car and I'm telling you it made a huge difference in the burbles with the active sound button activated vs turning active sound off. That seemed odd that would be all tied together as if you code active sound out will it still give you the burbles now? I would love to hear someone that has done the code could chime in on this.
This is interesting. I'd prefer less burbles and ASD but want the tone from the valves open. Having M1 menu sound control off and flaps wired open might be just what I'm looking for.

finally after 2 month of it sitting there the VC-2 is installed...
thumbs up for the person who said to push a rod though the opening. installation time. less than 20 min. jack up one side of the car.

luving the new sound that the M3 should have been from factory.

But does anyone else feel there is droning at 3-4k rpm. ?

I drive on comfort mode and it is 6mt.

I would say you're on the right path. Give it a try. Easy to go back to stock.

Yes, I notice the drone but it doesn't bother me. I do prefer it as the car was way too quite with the valves closed.

I had more seat time with the valves opened. There is droning at 2500-3500 rpm like you said in Comfort mode.

That’s good input, thanks for posting that. That alone will keep me from doing this mod.
