Piggyback tunes more horsepower in efficient mode?

I have been watching some videos on youtube with people putting their G80's on the dyno that have a piggyback tuner on it JB4/Racechip and the dyno graph shows more power in efficient mode than Sports+. This is really interesting so those of us that have these piggyback tuners should we be racing in efficient mode instead of sports +? But you can only use launch control in sports + which the dyno shows closes the throttle a bit. Seems really confusing now...

Anyone want to chime in with their own thoughts or personal experiences?

You've seen that with Racechip too?

I have the Jb4 with catless DP, and yes, if you take a look at the logs, the throttle closures take longer time under sport/sport+ than normal mode. Less throttle closures means more power.

And I think it's worse with the catless, the turbos spool faster and the ECU react to the surge by closing. It's annoying, yes more power than stock, but it feels jerky and I am not happy knowing there are throttle closures all over.

That's why I sent the ECU to Russia, still waiting but would be a proper tune with no closures and nice timing + flex fuel.

How long is the process for this and the cost? Are you going with Visconti?

Yes, well they have different pricing models. If you just want a tune with your own ECU I think it's around $3500 plus the tune, something among those lines.

But I went for Ecutek and the cloned ECU, to support racerom, flex fuel and multi map, that only works with Ecutek, and it's around $6.5k

Time is around 3 working weeks.

It's hard to say without datalogs but the difference in power could either be from throttle closure or the map being too aggressive.

No need for a dyno as you can tell from the datalog how the car is performing with each run
