Thinking the new G37 M2 will probably replace it for the driver's small to mid-sided track-focused car, while i4 will slowly replace G8x until electrification. Sad times, hence changed my order to an 21 F90. Happy to say my F90 M5 Competition will be at the VPC the end of this week! Cheers!
God forbid we give BMW, a brand we all love, the benefit of the doubt and wait a few months to see what they actually release in terms of driving reviews and technical documentation. God forbid we wait to see the car in person before railing against it in 4,000 consecutive posts (that part is not directed at you). God forbid we exercise any patience with them during a once in a century pandemic which has completely stopped European commerce. It's a miracle it actually went into production.

Congrats on the F90.

This internet personality will get a lot more traction (based on looks, based on followers) than the 60 year old men who know what they are talking about. This is a sad but true statement. I have no issue with the design and while the marketing doesn't appeal to me, I'm not taking it as a personal affront.

Half of the members are behaving as if Markus Flasch went to their house and called their kid ugly.

I have no issue with using social media for promoting a product. It is how it is used for the M3/4 I have issues with. It is telling me I am no longer the target audience for this product.

I saw both in the metal/ up close SPY G82/ IoMG G80) at M Track days and UDE. I'm not the target audience but I'm sure it will do ok. Just too far a departure for me. I'm sure whomever decides to go with it will be happy and, if the M340 is any indication, the performance will be stellar. thanks!

Some of the posts on this forum are genuinely incredible.

"Kids with hoodies" lol what on Earth do you drive you car in? Slippers? Get a grip.

"I don't like the adverts I like the adverts from ten years ago" cool, i liked it when my mum still bought my clothes and wiped my ass. The world changes.

Honestly, Supercar Blondie is not to my taste and I'd prefer something more technical but this forum is basically descending into old man shouts at clouds.

I agree it's a little sad how all these youtubers are raking in $$ and buying supercars, especially Shmee, Stradman and Blondie. I'll never understand the economics.

and how Shmee gets access to ///M (they even lent him an M5 for a few months) and the Porsche factory to see his car on the production line.

That said, she has driven some pretty wild cars, even some rarely seen and I'd recommend checking out her youtube channel.

she's driven another BMW concept car at the Welt

she also did a good interview w MB CEO.

but I do think she's gonna ruin her Wraith.

BMW gives one of the largest discounts to influencers, you only need about 100k to get huge discounts on a lease and it's free advertising for BMW etc. Schmee et al will all have deals done to access and buy certain cars so they market them for free with views.

So she started the video filling up the tank with that gas can, yet when she's revving the engine the dash shows the tank being half full 🙄🙄

I personally don't own any hoodies, but the hoodie isn't the literal point. It's the marketing towards the generation that commonly wears them and who likely can't afford the car.

So what should they do to remind you that they still remember you as a audience? Maybe they can't do their usual press drives because of covid and they're making use of what they have?

Let's be honest, most M3/M4s are owned by dudes. Majority of clicks on this video will be from dudes. So I see this as a win.

BMW is just using the usual marketing tools of this era for their benefit, there is nothing wrong with movies extra several thousand units via different channels. Besides, this type of marketing costs them next to nothing, as they simply invited her team for a short drive in the blocked off parking lot.

Hopefully next summer BMW will invite proper motoring journalists in for actual test drives at the racetrack and actual roads.
I can't wait till I see first drives by Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole.

Obviously it's not the literal point. I don't assume anyone who thinks adverts for expensive cars should be addressed squarely at the over 60's drives in slippers either.

+1 this would a great car for young, affluent, up-coming youtubers to buy...

It's new, trending and attention-grabbing/in-your-face, which is great for their target market.

That way they wouldn't have to go out and total their dad's rare cars (like how Gillean totalled his dad's Pagani). Oops!

Should be a monster though, just more Fast and Furious now than Mission Impossible . lol

Up until that video and the tech dive media materials, I did not know the extent to which BMW M GmbH went to modify an existing chassis & body-in-white to create a true dual-purpose family car. Only then I knew where the extra money went, e.g. extensive use of CFRP, magnesium, aluminum, engine cooling, etc.

Exact same workshop likely not doable in covid times, but there have been no tech videos and documents like during the F8x launch.

Exterior design, more modern iDrive or new car smell are not enough for me to make me upgrade from the current car; I need to know ALL the details. So far, it appears to me that the focus has been on rather non-motorsport, non-technical stuff. BMW could do that AND give cars to influencers to get that sweet Internet clout.

I guess we'll have to wait till someone illegally gets ahold of technical training PDFs. :

I'm thinking maybe 35ish + would be a reasonable age target audience for an M3/4. 8s are probably closer to the slipper generation. I looked at them, but my CA told me I wasn't old enough for one.

I bought my first M3 at 29, my second at 36, my third at 43 and my fourth at 47. All were bought new with the same purpose of serving the dual duty of daily driver and track toy. My next purchase will be to serve that exact same purpose. IMO, there’s no “age” to own an M3/4, but it is rather about “purpose”.

I don't disagree - but most of those 35 year olds probably wish they were still 21 so the advertising probably isn't far off 😃

Yes 100%! Where in the previous model their was NO functional Roof Rack Bolts Mounts.

Did BMW fix this issue with the Carbon Fiber Roof?

I've requested with BMW North America over and over again for BMW M to put back the missing bolts.

That's what's gonna be great about this new M4 it that it finally has M xDrive which I as well have requested for years, so it can be a one car garage and driven more as a daily in 4-seasons if so desired.

Absolutely. I said it from the beginning. Put an attractive female in a guy's world (car or gun videos for instance) and you are going to get lots of attention.
