M2, the Kia of BMW? That’s an amazing compliment for Kia 👍😀

I keep saying I want to move on from the M3/4, but honestly it's hard to find a car that's as compete a package. They still keep up with Porsche GT3s and are more practical. I would be on my 3rd M3 in a row if I get a G80, but I've always wanted to experience as many cars as I could. I'm just wary of "downgrading".

What? sorry M3/4s do not keep up with GT3s. Even base 911s embarrass the M3/4s.

No matter what BMW fans believe, BMW has nothing to compete against 911s.

Base 911s? No way.

I'm talking about my M3 CS which both on paper and in my experience, keep up with the 991 CS/GTS. The F80 can keep up with 996/7 GT3s easily, and can outperform 997 CS's. The 991 GT3, not so much. That being said, I've been able to keep up with a 991 GT3 with less experienced drivers.

The GT3, however, are probably more fun to drive at the limit.

992's... that's nex gen and they will outperform the F8X.

I have a CS as well, and I have had similar experiences against a 991 GTS. Plus, i happen to think my CS looks a lot better.

M2 CS to be delivered Jan. I'm riding the G8x series out. Look forward to seeing how the LCI looks and will wait for the G80 CS based on the LCI or perhaps the next M2 CS depending how this next one is for the coming 6-7 years.

If I had the money to burn I'd get a 992 Carrera S with Sports chrono and many other options. So it's probably a G80 for me. And if I'm not liking the G80 then I'll get the following:

26' Everglades Center Console
Twin Yamaha 200 Engines

So yesterday I traded my CS of 2 years....

Local BMW dealers just took this in, and one drive had me giggling with excitement. Man that v8 is just a masterpiece! I’m looking forward to life over 8000 revs and nice small grilles

LOL, the stuff I have to read

Excellent. I see you're in NY, so let's please set a date at a big boy track like Watkins Glen or VIR and we can see how your 911 keeps up against my F80 CS or E90.

It's easy to tell who drives on the track and who spends their time watching videos of pro drivers doing things at the Ring. When someone makes ridiculous comments it's clear who is who.

My prediction is that we BMW enthusiasts along with the entire automotive internet community will shit on it, but we will still end up buying it. The C63 is old and may not even have a V8 let alone V6 in its next iteration. Audi is Audi, therefore fast but boring. The Giulia is rightfully raved over but comes with a whole lot of reliability/tech/interior issues that are difficult to put up with once you're used to a German car.

This M3/4 may end up being a bit sterile like the F80/82, but as an overall package it'll be the best.

Blackwing though... or even M2.

Interior will be liveable, CUE is dead, powertrain, suspension, steering, and chassis will be class leading, and a manual for the purists, plus GM recaro's are incredibly comfortable. I think its worth a serious look. Also in before the, "but its a GM" comments.

I don't even think of Cadillac since they are irrelevant in the entire automotive industry. No matter how hard GM tries it just isn't going to happen. Investing dollars into vehicles that won't sell is only speeding up the eventual demise of the brand.

Except GM will be around for some time, they won't be gone tomorrow so Cadillac can still fall back on that, and their bread and butter seller Escalade allows the brand to continue to survive.

GM chassis tuning is some of the best in the business, they have benchmarked the E39 M5 for years for their sport sedans and it really shows, the ATS-V and CTS-V were fantastic, and with a manual transmission these new ones will be even better, and the powertrain is proven. Who cares if it doesn't sell, I'm glad they even see a business case in building it in the first place. A manual, 4-door sedan with a V8, yes please! The more enthusiast cars the better, and they do enthusiast cars well.

I care about the drive first and foremost, so I would definitely put a Blackwing high up on my list for exciting future cars.

I skipped the M3 when it lost the V8 on the F80/F82. I was hoping this was going to bring me back, but it hasn't. With the E46 and E92 I couldn't wait to get it. Was going crazy every day. With the F80 and now G80 is just another nice car IMO.

Next car would most likely be the 2020 Macan Turbo with the revamped interior. Completely different vehicle I know but I'm really looking forward to it versus the G80.

Macan is an excellent SUV, a bit lacking in the practicality department, but useful enough for most, and handles like a raised hot-hatch. I recommend you also try out the GTS trim, with Porsche's the GTS tends to be the better driving model compared to the Turbo.

I'm on a waitlist for a 718 GT4...might pass for C8 Z06 tho...Porsche needs to drop their 4.0 entry model to 75k starting cause that C8 outperforms the base with 25k less starting base MSRP. GTS models should be an 85k car after basic options and would be a great alternative to M2/3/4.

Well, I might revisit some past relationships: E92 M3, E60 535 Msport, E46 M3, E46 ZHP, or entertain some new ones Cayman GTS 4.0, next generation M2. Or I might hang on to my current F80.

A used GTS 4.0 could probably be had for less than the price of the G8x M3/M4 in a few years, and the i feel like the design choices will push people to the M2, which shouldn't have the same grille design.

Sounds more like you want an SUV than a sporty sedan. For those of us who don't want another SUV, the choices are slim at this price point.
