Are ventilated seats available?

I saw it at BMW.ca Configurator once inside the premium package but it’s later remove. So guess the M seat won’t have it as an option.

It is still an option in Germany - maybe they are working out package details or something

Big question I have as well. I've wanted ventilated seats since my E92 335is, and wish I had them in my F82 now. Was considering getting an xDrive M440i if the G82 doesn't have them.

Luckily, I see that in the BMW.CA configurator they do exist. But ONLY in the "Ultimate Package" that comes with all of the other options. Not as a stand-alone or in any other option set. The only downside for me with that is it would mean having to get the Carbon bucket seats which quite frankly I don't want compared to the M seats which look way more comfortable for DD like I would do.

But if they are in .CA cars they should be in USA builds too.

Ventilated seats in my M5 are useless. They do nothing. They're not connected to the AC, so you just get hot air on your back.

I tried it in the 850i I can feel the air is circulating behind the back. They are not connected to the ac but certainly helps on hotter days

I think any circulation would help against leather.

The BMW.CA website just fixed the erroneous ZCP manual option in their configurator but still has ventilated seats in the Ultimate Package so hopefully that stays consistent.

I have them on my M6 and I find that on a very hot day they will keep the leather at a comfortable temperature but it will never feel cold. Basically it is enough to keep you from sticking to the seat.

I drove 7 hours recently with the temperature ranging from -2C at the start up to 12C at the end of the drive. After about 3 hours with the cabin temperature at a comfortable temperature I found that my body heat had got the seat to a point where I wanted to be a bit cooler so I ran the seat ventilation at 1 for the rest of the journey.

I think if you go on long drives or live in CA, TX, FL etc you would definitely want the option

The airflow is really weak on the 5 series (at least on mine and a few others I've read) but maybe it's better on other models.

The cooled seats on my wife's Lexus are amazing.

I have the ventilated seats in an F90 M5. Like others have said, they are useless except for special circumstances (which are uncommon here in upstate NY):

High ambient temps over 85F
Plus
You are really sweating when you get in the car

Then they help "air dry" you for the first 2-3 minutes after you get in the car. Once the A/C is cranking, you don't need the ventilation function anymore.

This situation happens to me only about 4-5 times per summer so the value of the ventilated seats is minimal.

I definitely could see the benefit however in southeast US, TX, AZ. Or Dubai!

Not sure if anyone is aware, but the seats are temperature sensitive which is why they don't stay on at level 3 for very long. You can code that temperature to be lower which makes them way more effective. Also unlike other vented seats BMW pulls air away instead of pushing it out.

Maybe it's been asked before but has anyone got a mod for this? Why not get one of the rear foot vents to blow up under the seat to get cooled air pulled through the fan?

The rear foot vent is use for warm hot air under normal mode. Not cool air unless you direct it manually.
