IMO these rims in black color on M3CS look much nicer.

Now I'm proud of M8C to be only 0.4 seconds slower than M4CS with extra 400 lbs and no Cup 2 tire
Despite the weight and size, M8 is a well balanced and agile car Sorry I'm not trying to hijack this thread but just saying good job BMW!

I think this is the only leaderboard I've seen the M8 ahead of the M5 CS - too many variables to get hung up on though. It's entertaining at least.

I believe both M5CS and M8C with Cup 2 / Cup 2R tires can do a better job.. Maybe shave 0.5-1 second?

Sounds reasonable. My point is these guys are journalists, on a very short track in Canada with wide swings in weather. Impossible to play what if with tires without a same (or similar) day and same pro driver baseline. So many cars within 2 secs of each other, the aforementioned variables make the relative order meaningless in that grouping. They had trouble handling the CSL for example, whereas a factory driver wouldn’t. The M8 is likely easy to drive fast, forgiving with poor inputs. The M4 CS in AWD mode should also be forgiving. The fact their RWD and AWD mode times were the same is problematic.

These guys are great entertainment and bring a great deal of joy to the car community. No one should take their opinions as instrumented facts.
There will never be another Clarkson/Hammond/May, but I’m grateful someone is trying to fill those big shoes.

I think the 2WD vs 4WD and comparisons to the M8 and M5CS times are all relative based on that (what looks like a small track with alot of bends). I do not think that any cars get to stretch their legs on what looks like parkland with some bitumen…..

Quick everyone, let's argue about lap times on a 4,000 lb street car that 95% of us will never track!

Carbon ceramic brakes are not necessarily the best option for track use due to the astronomical cost of replacement.

I enjoy watching TH (JC is unwatchable…). All of these video guys have replaced the monthly car magazines I used to read. But it’s entertainment, some of it is really good entertainment, but still entertainment.
That BMW product slide is hilarious. It’s all about slicing the performance market in way to drive demand and sales (e.g. the 911 models, Audi S Line, AMG, etc.) |

If I had to have 1 car today, it'd be my toaster with the Plaid badge. Hauls my dog, my family and friends when they visit, don't give af about Chevron's pricing at the pump, don't give af about some M boy racer in a CSL/CS trying to race me from the light or hwy roll, etc.
lol (ducks and hides) But if I was a remote worker, had no friends/family and only needed a car for weekend fun, for sure it'd be a high-revving, normally aspirated, six speed manual with a dry sump lump.

So you don't like what they say, so you aren't going to follow it. Got it. Never mind that they have a whole department or team of people working on product strategy. You think the CS should be a made for track car and when it isn't, you're mad.
Cool, cool. |
