I just wish the alcantara/cloth seats had been in the regular CSL.

It looks like it sits very tall, sad to see you'll have to pay these much for a regular grille

Weight of new CSL is in the press release you just have to do your own calculation to get it. It isn't boldly marketed as it isn't anything overly impressive.

Quote:
The power-to-weight ratio of the BMW 3.0 CSL is a mere 2.9 kilograms per hp.

The version of the drive system with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which was further developed exclusively for the BMW 3.0 CSL, mobilises a maximum output of 412 kW/560 hp
New CSL 3.0 weight

2.9 kg * 560 = 1624 lbs or 3,580 lbs

Carbon body panels don't save that much weight, which is why they don't do this series production special BMWs.

Then BMW mentions a Motorsport heritage and blah, blah, blah. BMW is barely in motorsports today - no Formula E, F1 or anything outside of built factory cars. BMW barely registers as a Motorsport name nowadays.

IMO BMW should pay homage to the minivan because their best selling and most recognizable cars today are grocery getters.
They are in motorsport, just not the ones people know or are familiar with - they get involved with the series that benefits them more as a company and not just a marketing exercise.

Other than the AMG One (which has its own host of problems and not applicable to the majority), what has Mercedes/AMG gained from F1 on their road cars? You would think the way everyone likes to associate the two, Mercedes would have cars that were leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.

While not as popular or interesting as F1, all the other motorsport series BMW is involved with eventually benefits their production cars.

Completely agree. Wouldn't launching a Le Mans campaign or a F1 program be a more fitting tribute to 50 years of "Motorsport?"

BMW is barely a recognized name nowadays in that realm. I watch IMSA…maybe 4-6 cars across all of the classes? BMW has long claimed to be a performance brand. They used to kind of rival Porsche.

I find it hard to claim to be a performance brand when your competitors are competing at the highest levels of motorsports and you aren't.

Certainly some tech from F1 makes it to road cars. BMW made the S85 which was based on their F1 V10 as one example.

Why not make a hybrid turbo 6 M3/4 that's based on and proven as an F1 engine. That would certainly go a long way in cementing their reputation as a performance brand.

Lately, they are just furthering their image making nice, quiet, and tech heavy SUVs with style that compete with Hyundai Palisades and Tellurides.

I love the car but two things that I really hate. First off BMW had a great looking front facia laying on the drawing board and yet they went with what we got for the more common people. Second 750k for a redesigned M4 is just moronic.

No way, no how I would be paying 750k for a BMW M4. For that kind of money they should've come with the M1 hommage. Then I would gladly pay it.....if I had the money of course....

Excited to see this! And they didn't use a special 6mt that handles more torque, so eventually we'll be able to tune a regular 6mt g8x to this same power level!

I'm sure they beefed up the trans/clutch for this application. (Or the trans could actually handle that power all along and they just wanted to differentiate the power between manual pure cars and the comp models)
I was wondering the same. If it's different clutch I am sure we can upgrade our G8X, but if it's the same then we are in luck.
I'm totally looking for someone to post the part number for this clutch lol
