I too was very interested in the G80 M3 when it came out. Was added to the list for a build.

However, now that some time has passed. I am now more keen on going for a E39 M5 or maybe even a E46 M3 ZCP. Currently, I own a M2C and you now what? I feel like I want to own one of the greats of the past. The new M3/4 are great daily drivers, but there is too much tech to make it an event when you drive.

So here's to me paying way more for an E39 M5! These things are going to pretty much MSRP when it was new or more! Ouch

That's my biggest concern, luckily I've only seen one four series so far in the wild and that was enough!

The grill isn't even my only concern. The sides are beyond screwed up, the mirrors are terrible and remind me of something you see on a truck, it has base model Honda Civic rear brake calipers, the kink is gone, no power dome, and the rear end is indistinguishable from a Lexus. To me the car is a complete and total disaster.

No I won't be getting one.
They are so bad. Previous M mirrors were svelte and sexy where as these are square, blocky and ugly. No one seems to be talking about them. Sure, they at least kept the top piece that M mirrors have (that tradition must have slipped based Dukec somehow without him realizing to nix it) but they are just ugly. The car as a whole seems more squared off, so maybe they fit with it.

They appear fully aware and are allegedly satisfied that only 20% of the people like it.

The 20% is from the fading customer base

The new gen of buyers won't have a dog in this race.

They just want the latest and greatest.

AWD
Automatic
Wireless

Even in BMW marketing they mention HP as a bragging right for some buyers.

The Pure is for the 20% who can accept the new design language. That be me 🦅

I was looking at e39's last night @ enthusiastbmw in OH, and low mileage cars are $100k plus!!

98-02 (e39, e38, M Coupe, M Roadster, E46) - the golden years in my opinion.

Yep! I was looking at EAG as well and the reasonable ones were 55-70K with some miles. Basically hitting MSRP when they were new. I am seriously conflicted because I am guessing prices are only going to go out and it is truly a special car. Rather own one sooner than later and not be paying close to $100K as my only option. As we go more digital, these truly analog experiences will definitely be at a premium.

I am holding onto my M2C forever and I'm sure in 20 years, it will be just as desirable as the E46/E39 of today.

Interesting- adding to this thread - from the one review we've seen on here, the m3 will be quicker because of it increased front track and grip and more powerful engine. However, it definitely does "feel heavier." Exhaust subjectively sounds better from the random revs spattered throughout the videos although we haven't properly heard FOT runs...
