M340i front end swap?
The front end is objectively polarizing and subjectively FUGLY. I am in the market for the G80 but cannot get over that thing. Has anyone actually done a front end swap? Has anyone worked with their dealer to swap front ends with an M340i? Swapping the front end is a prerequisite for me to buy but wanted to hear if anyone has actually done it.

It's a bit more complicated than just swapping out an M340 bumper.
Not only are the hood, fenders, and headlights different, but the ducting for heat exchangers and brake cooling are also dependent on the G8x-specific bodywork. Sorry to say, but if this is a prereq for you, the G8x probably isn't the right car.

I'm sorry but this is so ridiculous. If you don't like the front end don't buy the car. You aren't swapping the front end with a M340i.

As one of the few people that likes the front end (and in person it looks great) my worry would be that BMW did this for a reason, not just to be controversial. Air flow, cooling etc... What would happen to the warranty if you change a part that BMW consider to be crucial...? But honestly, go and see it, it is really not so bad... As I said I really like it...

I'd bet many third party folks will come up with iterations of it just because it is so polarizing to so many. But there are many things that must be considered too.. cooling, sensors, structural, etc. I also wonder, if they do in fact come up with all kinds of different variations... Entire front? Just the grill sections? In the end, how many different looking fronts, with all kinds of "new" looks will be driving around?
I'm sure almost anything that cannot be easily reversed will not be allowed for leases, and for owners, who knows how rough BMW will be on warranties. It's going to be interesting to see it play out.

To each their own, but if I'm looking for a car, but can only buy it if I change something substantial like the front, then it's not the right car for me...
I just don't get it that people even consider this option, just buy a car that you like overall, and if you have to get a BMW, then buy a F8X... |

This is ridiculous; it's an M340 why don't we have the M3 engine. I'm going to do an engine swap; can't be that hard. |

I would wager the vast majority of "alternative" front ends are going to look terrible next to OEM.

Every rendering I've seen so far has been (subjectively) far worse than OEM.

Considering how much has been stressed that the intakes on the front are functional, I wouldn't want to change the front and I have not seen an owner saying "ever since I took ownership I hate looking at that thing on my driveway." Like others have said, you're talking about M5 money for the price of the car and swap and losing cooling efficiency means you're really ruining the car. If you want to break the grill up and not ruin the performance then paint the bar in the middle of the grill that plates mount to. Or just buy another car.

Just buy a M340i or don't get the car. If I have to change something after I buy it, I'm wasting money.

Just wait for aftermarket bumpers. But I am fairly sure you could change your mind while waiting if you buy the car first. Just like everyone is saying, the design is growing.
