I am not sure I ever understood this...unless your car is often used on track or in some European regions...
For a daily, I would be surprised any of us "ever" has the need to go over 5k RPM, broken in or not. And even if we do, it is brief and very rare... |

Yes it is brief and rare. I had to hit redline once in the break in to avoid being crushed by a chick in a white suv turning into me. Was instinctual to gun it.

Have a need, no… have a desire, every time I drive the car. It’s rare that I don’t go over 5K RPMs at some point during a drive. I didn’t buy this car to drive it like a Camry

As with any high frequency rattle, it is hard to pinpoint - I thought it was from the passenger side, my wife had it more on the driver side. We have now concluded it is probably from the roof mounted console.
I would call it more if a ‘fizz’ than a true rattle. It is the only NVH issue, which is very impressive for a stiffly sprung car, but that makes it doubly intrusive!

SA and tech were incredibly helpful. I did a test drive (I drove) with the tech and identified the loudest tizz. This morning was relatively cool (for FL) and the sound was not as prominent as when it it is hot. We concluded there were likely two sources - the BlendMount for my V1G2 and the plastic cover immediately above the mirror (not the main overhead console but the cover in front of that immediately above the windshield header). I wasn't convinced about the BlendMount as the noise was there before I installed it, but when the tech removed the detector and held the mount there was definitely a change. He added felt tape to the BlendMount side slides and also around the plastic cover. On my short drive home it was much better. On rough(er) surfaces I was hearing some minor noises which were likely being masked by the main noise that might now be fixed... Will post again when I have done a more extensive drive.
