But it didn't stop those RS6 Avant orders!
Limited run performance wagons do just fine here in the US. Volvo proved this, AMG has done this, Cadillac did it, and now Audi has done it. Even Porsche has a Turbo wagon, and now and electric one, although those sales tend to slack, I think mainly because, in spite of the aesthetics, it offers no real utility over the regular Panamera.

Just waiting on BMW...

The hope is for this M3 Touring to come to the USA and for BMWNA not to treat it like some limited edition model as pricing goes. This is no RS6 Avant.

I don't see why a G81 in the US would be tens of thousands of dollars more than G80. It all depends on options I suppose but base price shouldn't be that different. And RS6 is monstrously enormous and competes with M5 so a completely different price category. This is all irrelevant though since we don't get it.

Competition xDrive is exactly how I want mmy G8x though so add me to that list of take my US money.

Side note if this is the type of dash that we are getting on G80/82 for LCI, looks like I want a pre-LCI (unless G81 ).

It would be a direct competitor to the Audi RS 6 Avante, which goes for $130k+. Saw one the other day with a $50k mark up, so $180k for a $130k car. I think demand would be there, even with a fat premium

Does that mean that for the first time BMW could have a different layout for the dash in the M Models?He doesn’t list the G80,G82/G83 and G87 in the earlier thread.

With every option maybe? Why would it start at such a difference price point than an X3/4M. Sure, if you add carbon ceramics and carbon everything else, it'll go there. I think it would be closer to starting at mid 70's if they ever brought it here.

I'd love one personally, and it would be my pick out of the G80/2/3, even if it's auto only.

No, it's not. Why do so many of you think this? RS6 is E-class AMG, M5, CTS-V competitor in size, power, and luxury. Just because you throw a long roof on an M3 doesn't push it up market by a whole class. Also X3M is virtually same price as G8x.

I mean, if you want to pay $130k for an M3, then ok.

No, because he's confirmed the G81 will get the new dash in this thread, and that means that the G80, G82, and G83 will also get it too. It's just a question of timing at this point.

No. Nothing will change on the front of the car. As far as the exterior goes, the G80 will get the G20 tail lights, and that's it.

Limited run. Without an executive wagon being sold here to essentially homologate an M variant, it would be a special model, probably no more than 80-100 units. The financial drive there would likely put it in the $100k range.

It's only direct competition here in the US would be the quirky Volvo V60 Polestar which is a wonky turbo-4 with a supercharger and a plug-in hybrid unit. The G81 would blow it out of the water in terms of performance. It would essentially stand alone in that market. The F97/98 is pumped out of factories, and has plenty of competitors, as awesome as it is.

As mentioned above, it would not compete with the Panny ST, AMG wagon, RS6 Avant. Different class and price point.

And probably the G87 will debut with the new dash because he confirmed that the G42 will get the new dash in 08/22.If i was in the market for a G80 i would buy now.That new dash layout looks terrible IMO.

Sure, if they release an M5 touring.

I probably misspoke when I said a direct competitor. What I meant is that there will be a ton of people who can't justify $150k+ for an RS6, but will happily drop $100k+ for an M3 touring. The M3 touring in the US would fill that void in the market, particularly as a limited run car that could justify a higher price point

I hate the dash so much I'm probably going to buy instead of lease as I have no interest in an LCI. It was the number 1 reason, well maybe number 2 after the squeaky interiors, that I don't want a Mercedes, but even they have ditched it now. People need to stop copying the worst automotive interiors that are Tesla. I want a dash, not an iPad.
