Doesn't sound like a good marketing deal, but nonetheless... I don't think it was their choice not to make marketing deals car car companies.

IMO, all reviews have biases whether they're made by R&T magazine, Autoweek TV or your YouTube influencer. Generally, people will tend to trust more those reviews that confirm their own biases or needs. If you track a lot then you're more apt to trust Chris Harris, but if you just love to drive but don't track (or little of), then you may not be as akin to Chris.

I tend to make my own judgement based on my experiences incorporating the pluses and minuses from the totality of all the reviews. I actually find YouTube reviewers like Throttle House more to my liking because they review cars like the way I drive them and for their entertainment value especially since the 2 reviewers have good rapport.

I remember those days well. Today it's Porsche especially with C&D. Any comparison that involves a Porsche on C&D the only suspense is the finishing order after the winner. Porsche does make really good cars so hard to complain really. Today C&D has flipped on BMW as I fully expect that the G80/82 will receive a lukewarm review from them. They will laud it for the improvement in ride, handling and mercilessly trash it for steering feel even if they acknowledge it's an improvement on the F80/82.

Well I don't know about you guys but there's a big difference for me if I'm watching for entertainment or if I'm considering buying a car. If it's the former, I need to be entertained and I'm not interested in minute details about the optional packages etc.

If it's the latter though... I'll happily sit through Autogefühl, Carfection and god knows how many other happy amateurs...

Of the big YouTube channels, I like Savagegeese, Nick Murray, and Every Day Driver the best. I appreciate Chris Harris, but his reviews are largely irrelevant to me. Although it's entertaining to see him drift a $300k plus Ferrari on a closed track, I don't see myself ever being in that situation. I am not a fan of Farah's camera work (or lack thereof), and Doug's reviews are too short and lack meaningful substance when it comes to driving impressions and characteristics of the cars. If I want to know every feature about a particular car or model, Autogefuehl is the best.

That's true to some degree but guys like Doug's reviews are worthless. Some of these you-tubers does add value to what they do. As for savagegeese I don't care for his review since he's a rabid Lexus fanboy. I watched him gave RCF, RC-350 F sport rave reviews while knocking BMW M2C and even a 911. Plus one for Throttle house and I even enjoy Joe since he owns and tracks an M2C and test drives and likes other cars than just BMW's.

I’m no fan of BMW’s b*tches but sometimes having a fan reviewing the car isn’t bad. They know the history and models better than most others and can compare details and nuances well. And the video format these new outlets use can’t hide true excitement as traditional and professionally written pieces can.

I plan to watch a lot of them that are above the super car Barbie level and look for common themes. I’ll put more weight on more seasoned reviewers closer to my age and preference in car characteristics.

I stayed up till midnight for the embargo to lift last time around with the F series as I knew at some point I'd have one. In the end I bagged an M4 first and then an M3 Comp some time later.

Tucked up in bed this time but I'm sure it will be really well received. A lot has gone into the car and although I might not agree some of the bizarre marketing or the front design, BMW rarely gets the M part wrong.

I am wondering the same. If it's 12:01AM German time, than we are few hrs away in the east coast.
