He's hit or miss for me. I just think he expects all cars to drive like cars from the 2000's, and that's just not going to happen. Them putting a car on the lift is something I do appreciate though, because not many reviewers do.

And then someone pointed out they have a super biased hard-on for Lexus. Which I'm fine with.... the long review they recently did for the LFA was incredible.

Savage geese is great. Relaxing to watch.
My favourites are TH, Reid, Harris and also - Max at AutotopNL. He's a good driver and knows his stuff. Always a joy watching him floor every car on the Autobahn as well! |

What would BMW do if they gave one of these reviewers the opportunity to review a new model early and the reviewer turned around and said in their review that the car is ugly and it sucks?
I'm looking forward to these reviews, but with a rather large grain of salt. |

Whether it sucks or not we'll see, though the reviews we've seen that I've since been taken down would suggest they don't.

Go check out the review where he shits all over an entry spec BMW 840i (entry spec is not representative of a manufacturer’s vision and not intended for review - the buyer accepts the compromise). He insinuated the entire 8-series platform was garbage based on his singular experience with this one entry level offering. Meanwhile, the rest of the automotive press had genuinely positive things to say about their experience in the properly specced M850i Xdrive (which in this spec is far superior by pretty much every conceivable metric to the similarly equipped LC500 he has a boner for and costs about the same price). If you’ve ever had the pleasure of driving a Lexus ISF going all the way back to 2008, which was a special car in its time, you will find the current RCF, GSF, and LC are similar enough to the old ISF on a visceral level to dismiss them completely as something that feels new and fresh. Especially if you’ve already enjoyed NA V8’s from the 2000’s and have since moved on to torquier higher powered turbo motors. He also argued the 2020 Supra was better than the M2C in his review of that car (clearly because it was a Toyota branded car and for no other reason because that’s the baggage he carries). The only thing Japanese about the Supra is the bump steer and the wind buffeting… the rest of the car feels German. I could go on and on but this is getting long. He has no breadth compared to many other reviewers. I’ll wait for Chris Harris and the rest of the professionals who have access to properly specced press cars to provide their feedback. LOL, the only credible one here is Harris. The other 3 are self improvised journalists with no credible background that don't even know how to drive

Joe is just another influencer that gets bribes from BMW. His opinion isn't worth squat. I agree though, Throttle House are objective, offer an impartial view and are not afraid to be critical.

And yes, if the C63 would have been consistently faster around tracks than the F8X and would have gotten praise as the better track car of the two, I would have gotten the C63 over the M4. But it was the opposite, hence why I have an M4 in my driveway. I am not a brand whore, I get what best suits my needs. It just so happens the M3/4 has been it for me for the last 20 years.

As for the Lexus thing - that's a tricky slope because the Lexus cars (particularly the GSF and LC500) while aren't great performers from a numbers perspective, are a ton of fun to drive, both because of the NA V8 and also because of their steering/chassis tuning. I say that with experience having driven both on the road as well as on a track. They're not "fast"... but you'll have a blast driving them. But I digress. I agree he's biased so I take his overall impressions with a grain of salt. Really just find value in getting the car up on the lift.

I understand this is mainly an English reading forum, but I am quite eager to read/watch the thorough reviews by Auto Motor und Sport, Autobild and Tim Schrick. These publications have never been scared to say it as it is.

Agreed. I purposely ignore anything Farrah and Demuro say. I put them in the same pile as Schmee i.e not even worth my time.

I am no Chris Harris, but can't wait to test drive it on the 13th! Keen to see the initial feel and how it really looks in person being an F82 driver.

I know Harris used to race but I can't be the only person that thinks his criteria of what makes a car great comes down to how well it drifts. Don't get me wrong as I like to watch his reviews and respect his opinion but as a person that drives his car daily to work and doesn't spend a lot of time drifting around corners I'm not sure how his opinion should carry any more weight that those of guys like Mat Watson or even Doug DeMuro who tackle what it's like to live with the vehicles on a daily basis.
