OFFICIAL OXIDE GREY G80 M3 / G82 M4 Thread

I ordered a Oxide Grey G80 Competion with Kyalami Orange interior and the M826 black wheels. Hope to get in in March. After many months of searching i now found some pictures of a Oxid Grey G80 in a german forum. The pictures are not great and the car is on winter-wheels but i will try to upload these pictures so you can see a Oxid Grey G80 in some real pictures

Saw oxide grey over orange today. Paint looked almost brownish tan in direct sunlight. Seems on par with champagne quartz metallic. One thing I did notice is the black lower portion seemed to have swirl marks on it already so anyone who hates black for it's upkeep there is no avoiding it now.

Not the best pics thanks to my son but you get the idea.

Great pictures. Thank you.

This is more or less the exact combination that i ordered : Oxid Grey with Kyalami Orange and M826 wheels.
I especially like the 1st picture where you can see the combination with the orange interior and the exterior color in the sunlight.
In my opinion a great combination : orange and grey.

I am glad though that i changed the M826 wheels from the initially ordered Black version to the Bicolor version. I think that this color needs the bicolor version, whereas the black wheels are more suited for the less-metallic looking paints such as Brooklyn Grey.

OFFICIAL OXID GREY G80 M3 / G82 M4 Thread

We picked up our Oxide Grey G80 M3 today from the iconic BMW Park Lane dealership in Central London today.

They had a great line up in the showroom for the G8X M3 M4 Launch with BMW UK's own E30 M3, E46 M3 CSL and E92 M3 on display.

The colour is amazing and we're really looking forward to getting stuck into product development. We discuss our plans and even have some cheeky 3D scans from the engine bay.

Now to run in the car ASAP and get it on the dyno.

If you would like initial driving impressions check out my video from the media launch earlier this week. Of course will keep every one updated on longer term views.

Is oxide grey really as yellow/gold as pics seem to show? I love Donington grey but oxide looks too yellow to me.

Donnington would have been my second choice but no full individual colors in Canada.

My girlfriend is also afraid it looks like a yellowish/beige but I am confident it will not. I find it classy and sporty at the same time. A lot more dynamic than the Mineral grey I have now.

It very much depends on the light. Seeing it in all kind of lights for a week now i would say that in real life it almost never looks as yellow/gold as in some indoor pictures here.

In some evening lantern light under some angles it can maybe look a tiny bit gold/yellow, but this only is in very specific conditions.

After one week i can say that it is a great color that i like more and more every day.

I will try to find some time in the weekend to post some new pics of mine, if possible in different lighting conditions.

Thanks that's useful. I really like liquid metal appearing silvers and was hopeful for skyscraper grey but unless I see some better outdoor photos, it's too bland and too blue for me. Oxide looks quite good from many pics but I would prefer more silver than gold. I don't mind a bronze/brown tint and in fact would consider Sepang bronze but not sure it's worth the full individual cost.

It's way more silver than gold. It looks like machined aluminum in a good way without bright lights over it. When the light catches it then you see the gold flake. I quite like it and I don't generally like grays.

What is the price for the Oxide Grey paint? I ordered Brooklyn Grey, but my wife loves Oxide Grey.

Price is $1950, so $1400 more than Brooklyn Grey and other standard metallic paints. Also note that on the M3 Oxide Grey is, along with Tanzanite Blue and Dravit Grey, one of the three individual colors that don't require prior approval.

I saw a G80 Oxide Grey in my dealership yesterday and it looks fantastic. It will be one of our top choices when i place in my order.

Finally got a chance to test drive one, even though it wasn't a manual. Color looks pretty close to Donnington Grey to me, maybe a bit more gold

Nice, what's your take on the car? Would you say its a lighter shade of Champaign Quartz under the sun?

It's been a few years since I've seen CQ, but I'd say this is lighter and more gold than that color. It really is similar to Donnington Grey, but just more gold in it.

I really enjoyed the test drive to be honest. I continue to warm up to the looks of the car although I will say I'm probably not in love with it like I was with the E9x M3. Having said that, the car is supremely confident inspiring and you can really reach some ridiculous speeds with it.

If I absolutely needed a 4 door, I wouldn't hesitate to get this car, especially since I'd probably go with a 6MT. There's just nothing out there that really competes against it, not to mention the seats are out of this world. If they would have brought the G81, I'd go put my name down tomorrow as this platform is one of those that can be your only car.
