M3 or M4?

Sold my F82 DCT and will order most likely an G8x Individual Paint.

However can't decide between M3 or M4 tho.

Will go definitely with a manual this time and tend to the 4 door even I own 5 other sedans already.

Thoughts on both? I do not have any needs for another car but wouldn't mind to drive the G8x for couple years.

Thank you

Such a hard decision.

They both look amazing, but the G80 has the extra practicality and the G82 looks slightly more badass as couples just look so much better to me.

I'd just get whichever one is spec'd the way I want on the lot lol

Also sedans usually lease better so maybe that would make a difference in my choice

Hard question, really depends on what you prefer.

For me the decision was easy, But I'm just not a 4 door car guy, in fact only one of my cars ever had 4 doors, I prefer hatchbacks or coupes, so G80 never was a thought anyway...

But I do like both! And they look great each on their own, some things are really cool on the g80, like rear fenders, other things like the wide „shoulders" on the g82...

IMO, if you want a 6MT, M4 is the choice. M4 drives a little bit better than 4 door M3. More sportier.

Such a first world problem. LOL Personally, I love coupes and bought a 440iX. I think the coupe styling looks much more sporty, and even more aggressive, than the sedan. Like the GT3 race car.

Do you drive people around other than one other person? If not, Coupe all the way!

If you need access and room on the rear then M3 would be the right fit beside the look of rear panel is more aggressive than M4.

I think the majority here disagree with that due to the softer lines of the G82. I do and I don’t...

For some reason the G82 in black gives me Maser QP gen. 5 vibes. There’s something with the rear lines and frontal area that give it that hit man car badassery presence that Clarkson and team so brilliantly noted in that epic TG fast sedan shootout episode

But the butch G80 looks more muscular.

I've driven and tracked many many F80s and F82s and don't agree with that statement.

I prefer the rear of the M3 having seen them both in person, and I don't like the body line going through the gas cap on the m4.

Both are gorgeous and you can't go wrong. You have the opportunity to see them in person OP?

I was sold on the M4 but switched to the M3. Having seen them in person I think the rear arches on the M3 look more aggressive.

I ended up making a pro/con list and in the end the only pro the M4 had for me was the more sloping roofline which I really do like.

M4 looks too much like it is trying to be an M8 to me. I had an F82 and always wished I had waited for an F80 to become available. I am also a sedan/wagon guy so take it with a grain of salt.

Having seen both I like the sedan more on this generation, just like I liked the coupe more on the E36 generation.

I have an M340i and the 3er design is really great with excellent proportions. I think it looks awesome. But... coupes man.

M4 is a slightly too long proportionally in rear and the hips are a different kind of wide to M3, but otherwise it looks more sporty and special IMO. I also prefer the frameless door and the sense of not sitting up against a B pillar giving a better sense of what the car is doing. I don't need 4 doors so I'm pretty sure I've decided I like M4 more than M3, but it's still a close call.

For me it's M3, since I have budget for one car for me. Added daily practicality. But I am waiting for the
AWD next year. Since I have M340 and I love having the AWD, I don't think I could do with out

I don't think you can go wrong with either. My dealership also has a white M3 comp and it is beautiful.

G80 all the way! More practical, better looking (imo), cheaper, and basically the same weight. I dont see why anyone would spend more for a 2 door.

Do you have a need for four doors and a spacious rear seat? I never take anyone around and feel that the coupe has a more sporty look for cars in general so I will continue to buy coupes as long as car manufacturers keep making them even though they seem to be a dying breed. Soon our only choice will be electric, possibly self-driving, SUVs.
