G8X Buyers: Do you currently have or have you previously had an M car?
G8X buyers/leasers ONLY please.
M Performance models need not apply, I'm talking true M cars. If so, which ones? Multiple answers accepted!

My current F80 is my first M. Prior to this I had a 340 x-drive and a n54 335xi coupe (among other things). So I am very excited to get the AWD M3... it will be the first ever automatic car I've ever owned, but the AWD is a must for ski trips.

I'm not sure if I qualify as an M car buyer yet because I'm not 100% decided on the G80. Want to do my due diligence with all options on the table before making a final decision. Although I am heavily leaning towards the G80.
If I do end up with it... will be my first ever M car.

Had an E92 M3 and F80 M3 and am now approaching year 3 with my M2. The M2 is so fun but I miss the practicality of the F80. However, I love the balance between comfort and rawness in the M2 so I hope the G80 is not too refined and luxury-focused... I'm sure it'll be plenty capable.

I've owned two non-M BMWs and am about to buy my first M. When you migrated to your first M, what was your first impression? Is there anything that truly blew you away?

But seriously, the first thing I noticed was just how planted it felt compared to the previous non-M's. With my n54 I did coilovers and such which helped big time, but stock the M just feels so much more awesome. I also love the tuning potential with these cars. Modded S58 paired with AWD is going to be a beast and I cannot wait. Last edited by jpsimon; 02-24-2021 at 08:15 PM.. |

Very interesting. Nearly 40% of new owners have never owned an M before. So it's not just a bunch of loyalists (or "fan boys" as the more crass among us state) that are buying the car. Nice poll jmg .

As much as I loved the E92 M3, I wanted a new car, not a used one. So for me the F80 was the clear choice. I'm guessing that the next generation of M owners are like me when I can on board: They have always wanted an M3/4 and the latest and greatest is coming out, damn the grill and what the F80 owners think. I have to wonder though, if in an alternate universe the G8X were the exact same size, weight, had the design language of the F80, but with the more powerful S58, a manual/DCT, and an AWD option, how many MORE people would be excited about it. Is anyone actually getting the G8X because of the grill, or are they getting it in spite of the grill?

For me it would be in spite of the grille, thats why im waiting to see the final design of the next M2. It has been alluded to that it will have a bigger grilles but not as big as the M3/4, so maybe it works best there and is the winner. The G M3 has the interior as its shining savior so will be interesting to see if M offers the CF seats in the M2, too, 😉 or keep them for bigger cars only at the premium pricing..We shall see.

I'm an impulse buyer coming from a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0T 6MT. It's fun to drive but I'm well aware that I'm entering a different world all together. I haven't even sat in a ///M car yet but stood next to a sold M5 the other day, and it was a piece of art. Needless to say that my car sitting at a port somewhere in Europe right now is killing me!

Been waiting until I got to a place in my life where this was possible. I'm here now and buying an M3 AWD when available.
Been wanting an M3 since I was 15.
