Portimao Blue M3 G80 at dealerships

I've owned nothing other than black cars (exterior and interior) for 30 years..I come close to ordering silver or blue but never did. To me, the G80 looks best in dark blue..Tanzinite Blue in the shade is killer..not a huge fan of it in sunlight...I don't see it on the individual colors list but would like to go with Black Azurite.

Obviously subjective, but I would have that argument with you any day. Gentian Blue > Portimao Blue and it's not even close. I prefer darker blues and not lighter/powder blues like Portimao, Estoril. I put Gentian up there with San Marino, Tanzanite I and II, Macao, Night Blue and even Carbon Black. I get these are Individual colours but that's the point, these look more special to me than Portimao which in my opinion looks basic.

At least G80 with a good LCI front can become a decent car. Maybe. Anyway, Portimao no doubt fits well.

His point is BMW has a history of special M blues and they dropped the ball on this one.

I completely agree with him. How about bringing back interlagos blue or something similar, something unique without having to pay $5,000 on top of already paying double for a 3 series...

It's has nothing to do with being insecure it's about wanting to be unique which a M car should be.

As much as I wanted to like this color, I really don't like how plain it looks on the g80. I think it looks fine on the g20 because it's a standard model but the shade of blue isn't unique enough for an M car. Really wish they did a San Marino type of blue instead of Portimao

Will be interesting to see. I doubt 0-60 and 1/4 mile will beat M5C but track it might

Remember bmw doesn't want M3 to beat M5 for marketing and sales.

Here's Portimao Blue next to other blues from left to right: San Marino Blue CS, Portimao Blue G20, Estoril Blue F3x, Yas Marina Blue F8x.

I'm not a color expert but to my eye Portimao slots between Estoril & San Marino in terms of shade, depth, purple content, etc... At first I didn't like the idea that it's not an exclusive M color but white & black are not exclusive either and they're the top 2 selling colors.

I like Portimao and I think I'll get it on the G80. It'll get paint correction & a ceramic coat. The 826M wheels will get powder-coated bronze-gold and the car will be dropped about an inch on MP-HAS or aftermarket springs with some spacers. The calipers will be painted Kyalami Orange to match the interior. The car will stay clean year round as I don't plan to drive it in the rain or poor weather at least for the first couple of years. Now that's exclusive, not having a color that's 5% different

PB is already common on the G20 platform being its launch colour. Would rather go for an individual colour on the G8x.

I love the PB! It's the color I have on my M340, when my lease ends I doubt I would go the same color again. I love the color but I usually get a different exterior color and every car I get
