Only reason it looks dated is because you have seen it for what 6 years already. The question is once you see the G80 out after a year with this ugly grille will it still look fresh. In my opinion the G80 due to the ugly grille will not age well.
The rest of the car looks great but still love the f80 side view with more definition.
It's not about being fresh, it's the softer rounder looks of the old gen cars compared to the angles and aggression of the new ones. The M2 comp looked ancient next to the M3 in the showroom I saw, as will the old gen M3, M4 and M5 as the G8X models hit the road. You'll understand when you see it for real, pictures don't give, ironically, the whole picture.

As a TB /silverstone F80 owner, this looks pretty good tbh. but as I've always said the rear bumper bugs me more than the grill.

it reminds me of a storm trooper helmets chin how it just sticks out.

I was at the "private viewing" back in September, the most impressive part about this platform is the powertrain, I can't call the technology impressive when it has the same technology as a 330i G20, I find the engine bay extremely underwhelming and the fact that the car is over 4000lbs (imagine how heavy the cabrios are going to be) just over all makes me very under whelmed with this platform.

That's fair enough, at least you're not just a "grille bad I hate" parrot after seeing a photo like a lot of others.
I don't think anyone is getting a drive until they take delivery of it so who knows how everything will translate. A few more weeks until people do, I read others who's car arrived at the dealers but are being held.

My f80 is aging quickly...I can't believe I've come around and started liking the front end. This color looks fantastic!

Everything about the car is amazing except that awful front end. Deal breaker for sure.

This color needs a country with lots of sun and see the sparkles in the paint ... otherwise to other people it's pretty much black in the shade

I may be an exception, but I actually like the look of TB under cloudy weather conditions. Yes, it doesn't pop as much as under sunlight, but it looks good as well IMHO.

Another example is the Porsche color Night Blue (since I'm currently looking for a 992). It's a similar color to TB, maybe not as deep. However, I love how it looks under cloudy weather conditions, but actually not so much under sunlight.

Lol and the other generations had what exactly different to "normal" series in the interior tech ? Gear Knob? Sure, it was DCT.
Everything else was the damn same you could put in a 320 if you wanted.

Also 4000lbs...learn the numbers...what the heck. If you have a fat ass of 400lbs then yes it is over 4000lbs.

I suggest you basically are here only to flame for whatever reason.
You don't like the car, it's OK but at least argue correctly and don't write crap down that is not true at all.

Agreed!

People act like things are any different than they were for prior generations.

Sold. The new "design language," as they say, is growing on me with this color/SL combination.

You're the one that tried to "flame" me by saying I was trading in a 428i for a G80 I get it you get your direly needed self esteem boost on a forum hence why you have almost 300 posts speculating about a car you haven't even seen in person or driven. I was just providing reference of my tanzanite Blue previous gen model and real life reference and opinion of a car I have actually seen instead of trying to be keyboard warrior for a car you have yet to even own or drive. I can't imagine capping so hard for something I don't even know what it drives like just to follow the herd
