San Marino Blue G80 M3

I was surprised that I hadn't yet seen any San Marino Blue G80s posted. Since its introduction, SMB has always been my favorite BMW color, and I wanted to see how it translated onto the G80. I figured some members here may have been interested as well.

Utilizing some screenshots from Visual Car Review's Youtube video of the G80, I did some quick digital mockups of SMB. It is a hard color to mimic in a still image, as it constantly is shifting hues in real life. Original Video linked here: LINK

I think SMB will end up being a perfect color for this car. I’d love to spec one with black 826 and all CF options. Looking forward to building my LCI/CS/CSL car once I’m done with my current G82.

This is my #1 choice, just waiting for AWD ordering to start. SMB on silverstone with carbon buckets.

Looks very nice. Hard to tell the difference between this and Portimao from the pictures to my eye. I wonder would it be worth it?

SMB also happens to be my favorite.

Looking to possibly order a SMB G80 but stuck on choices for the interior. Cant go with silverstone as I have a 3 year old and 6 year old, I really like the Fiona Red but would it be too flamboyant looking? Superman??

The other option would be Tortufo, but is that too boring? Too 'old man' ??

Blue with red interior looks like a superman-mobile.

My F80 CS is SMB with white/black two tone interior. I have a 3 year old and my girlfriend's son is 8. It did not stop me from getting silverstone on my G80 M3. You are fine with silverstone and it will look incredible.

Owning a SMB for the past 3 years I would say these photos are accurate to about 85-90% of what the car looks like under fluorescent lights. OP did a GREAT job but it is missing a little of the purple hue.

I have a 2.8 year old, I ordered mine with silverstone. Just do it.

Silverstone really is the natural choice with blue.
Some people have done Tartufo (brown) with blue. It's OK but not great.
If not Silverstone, go Black.

Thanks for the info. My kids are quite messy so I’m going to have to think hard about this.

The silverstone is dual colour and has a black stripe through the middle right? (Non bucket)

I’m guessing it could work but I wear dark blue Levi jeans most of the time, is that going to be a problem?

There are a lot of older threads regarding the Silverstone interior from F80 owners.

In short, helps to get some sort of protective coating applied when you take delivery (either by yourself or your detailer if you're getting PPF or ceramic coatings). Yes there can be some color transfer but it seems to be pretty overstated AND from many owners it seems like it cleans very easily regardless. Many owners with kids had no issues with it. Go for it if you like it!

Think I might stick with Tartufo as can't trust the kids

The takeaway from those threads and from me owning 2 cars with silverstone is simple: if you buy a pair of jeans they must be washed once before you wear them in the car.

Agree this color is awesome, just not a fan of paying $4500 for a color that is currently offered as standard on the other M vehicles. Wonder if they’ll offer it standard in the future.
