How you can assume that???
Yeah, if we're going off merely sightings I've seen a few of them driving around, though coupes are not generally that popular here.

From asking the local dealer directly when I went to see the G80/82

Last time I was at my dealership there were no M3s, M4s or 4 series car in the showroom. Plenty of 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 series as well as the X series and the Z4. There is a rarely visited, mostly hidden extra showroom upstairs at the dealership. I was bored so I went up there. Lo and behold, there were two 4 series cars hidden away up there.

So I doubt that this dealership is sellling many of them and it appears that it is trying to avoid polluting the main showroom.

You are saying that the dealership hid the only two 4 series they have in stock upstairs because they were too embarrassed for it to be on the floor? I'm going to call BS on this one.

Would say the same...not sure how it is in US, but I have a colleague here in CH that has a BMW dealership..and you would be surprised whst you have to follow...

BMW is actually telling you what cars you have to have on display, they will even send you cars that they think you should have and sell, cars gets delivered and the bill is inside, how and when you sell it is then your thing...

Also there are measures on what cars and how many you have to sell in order to not loose your „Bonus" and so on... having a dealership is not a „I'll do whatever I want".
You are basically having a license to sell BMWs, if you don't meet their requirements (cars sold, showroom styling and so on) you may easily loose the license...

A few cars doesnt make a trend. I believe the 4 series non-M grill is a bit weird but dont see it being a problem for sales like this would imply

That poster is one of the most vocal here in his dislike for the new grilles so I would advise others to take his story with a grain of salt as that story seems extremely unlikely.

Thanks to this thread I figured out why I was so confused by the 4 series new grille. The base model is the best iteration of this awful concept. That being said, I'd go with a base 430i if I HAD to have one of these new models. It doesn't shock or disgust me anymore, I just don't like it.

I have entirely changed my mind on the grill for the G8x but I still think it looks pretty bad on the regular 4 series cars. I was pretty worried when I first saw this grill for the first time and it was the one on the 4 series and then I saw it on the heavily masked G8x test mules which didn't convince me it was going to be any better there. Thankfully, I think it looks so much better on the G8x cars.

I have heard very similar things elsewhere so I wouldn't be too surprised with what he's describing other than the issue of cars showing up unannounced and then you just have to deal with it. That bit would surprise me. There must be some kind of heads up about that, surely.

Complete opposite opinion here. But hey, BMW has done their job about making people talk about it.

BMW design team did a great job. I bought a G82 from a dealership just after looking at the car in person.

Was never a grill hater, but never loved the design. Saw the car in the flesh today and she's pretty damn sexy. Will be ordering one for sure.

The designers botched the job big time. Was at the dealer w/ wife disecting the design from all angles and we're both shaking our heads in dumbfoundedness. There simply isn't an angle that dosen't look off and ugly. Here's what I think on the design, as a previous-gen owner:

Front - Those little stubby hood indentations (worst offender aside from the grill) looks like it came off a JDM car

Side - rear view mirrors lost all the sexy curves and bloated, FAKE side vent ; front side profile is especially blunt due to stubby nose

Rear - bumpers are square and tall like an SUV, duck tail trunk w/ integrated spoiler is no more, instead they chose the cheaper solution to stick a CF spoiler on there which isn't even good looking. This is looking more and more like a Japanese ricer

Interior - Nothing's changed other than cosmetics, there wasn't any attempt to modernise or lead the industry. It feels exactly like my car with just updated buttons.

Obviously my F82 isn't going anywhere and we'll go with the the next higher up brand with the design aspirations. Nobody in my local //M group of 100+ members have ordered the car, so BMW is doing a great job, well on it's way to getting new customers.

In July last year when the first pictures of a M4 (i believe in Dravit Grey) leaked on the internet i really did not like it. In september after the very first press pictures i also was not really convinced about the grille. After seeing some more youtube videos in October i started to like it a bit, and enough to order one in November. Since then more and more pictures and video material became available and actually started to like it. And then this week i saw a G80 M3 in the flesh at my dealer. In the flesh i absolutely love the design INCLUDING the grille. I am convinced that in a couple of years time this generation M3/4 will be universally praised as one of the greatest designs of all time.....

I was trying to figure out why people were saying the grills look better in person and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I FINALLY saw a new M4 today, it was behind a closed door with protective glass.

I never liked the grills from the start and seeing them in person while they are a little better they only look better because in person you can really feel/see the proportations of the car as a whole as opposed to whatever is captured in the frame of the camera. The grills look more proportional to the car in person, but here's the downside.

The car is HUUUUUUUGE, when I first saw it I thought the glass it was behind was playing tricks on me, it literally looks like a cartoon car or something... the entire hood/front end of the car is so looooong and doesn't feel like it ever ends.

It dwarfs my m2 cs, it looks like a tank on wheels, def a GT car, don't care what anyone says.
