Definitely an improvement over the interior one.

I think all these BMW M employees toiled away for many years on this project. Some obviously made larger contributions than others. Everyone probably wanted to do a their own video and in the spirit of unity, they were given the opportunity.

Meanwhile forum members are like "WTF did I just watch! I want those 76 seconds of my life back."

Indeed, we don't care about the shifter's DNA.

But engineering details, yes please !
Especially for a car you can supposedly use on the occasional track day...

I'd like to see a similar video comparison of the outgoing F-series.

One of the best video of these series. Make sense to the old school bimmer fans!

From what I see so far, it about the same setup, minus those plastic air diffuser in the center, of which its purpose is questionable.. The F8X has air curtains and a rear spoiler also..

This car is like going from a iPhone X to an iPhone XS; yea, it's a new model but same underlining design but slightly revise to match the contemporary market.

Very cool...I'm liking these despite their very strange production quality.

Thank you for sharing. Excellent video! Although I've read much about their aerodynamic design mastery it was impressive to watch them discuss.

Would be interesting to also hear their thoughts on after-market exterior add-ons, specifically how such can affect cooling and drag which they spend so much effort to perfect (designing and building to 'mm tolerances' in both areas).

I enjoyed this video more than I think all of the other ones (exhaust one was good too). Lots of information (and small interesting details like the raised undercarriage) and really cool to see them doing the testing that I hadn't really seen before

It explained the part I was curious about, the cut-out in the middle of the lip. So obvious and simple when you know...guide more air under the oil cooler.

Our guesses was to not interfere with the sensors/radar. It was wrong

I just wish they had included my other information wish, downforce numbers.
They’ve clearly spent some effort here, so why not share the objective results?

I guess that explains the lack of air diffuser in the fender. underbody improvements sound good. hope they put some vents in that hood for the CS variant.

I’m glad they hid those vanes on the front bumper in the air curtain vent, was never a fan of that “whiskers” look

Loved watching them geek out. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the G8X, I didn't expect anything less.

The guy's slight smile while he explains they put diveplanes inside the aircurtain was priceless

You can be 100% sure it will. One thing that has characterized all the CSs so far is the CF hood and additional air exhaust(s)

Interesting video. I did notice the unprotected oil cooler at the front. I think that is the same as the F8x and I remember some people having bad experiences (to put it mildly). We don't worry about that?

Lovel to see more videos like this. Really want to try that model and CFD myself, so I can figure out what exactly that rear diffuser contributes to the overall aerodynamics, lol.

Videos like this one make you wonder wtf the Chevy Corvette team were smoking when designing the notoriously prone to overheating C6 Z06.

Ugly grill or not, DCT or not, repeatable max performance is what separates the M3 from its competitors made most apparent via the F8X platform. Cooling is performance. High altitude, high temps, N'ring lapping days what have you, the S55/DCT has proven insanely robust.

C63, RS4, Giulia Quad... one lap wonders. I hope the G can prove its mettle, but I posit that the overall weight gain is going to aggrandize the F gen even further as time passes.

Thanks for sharing!
