Very interesting. Definitely don't get the ACC radar if you want to go to the track often!

So nice to see they finally have put some brake cooling ducts in the front! About time!

I also like the stone guard in front of the radiator, that is great

As far as I remember there was separate threads for the tech releases back when the F8x was released.

I agree that there are positives to have these videos in one single thread. The advantage of keeping them separate is that you can have one discussion in each thread on each topic. All topics in one thread could end in a long thread that is difficult to keep track of with several tech topics discussed in the same thread.

The mods decide what they find to be the best solution.

Good points, I wasn't directing my comment at you more to the universe to see what the mods choose to do

After watching the bumper disassembly, I was left wondering why they couldn’t just make a DIY for the removal since they were in there.. lol

Agree, the rock guard is a clever idea.

I see they kept the lower cooler design that had a minor tendency to get damaged on occasions. I predict the aftermarket companies will start on a design to cover it but wonder if it will maintain original design intent of negative pressure cooling.

Things like that little lip to ensure negative pressure under the oil cooler is another good sign that this car was built for intentions beyond being a sneaker marketing tool

M is still alive and well it seems.

So now the oil cooler is your skid plate. Careful driving these with lowered suspension.

In the Q&A I asked about the seemingly vulnerable oil cooler at the bottom of the car and why it seems less protected than the one from the F8x. From what I saw, there is no guard, whatsoever, protecting the cooler from debris.

You would think BMW have considered this and when gearbox oil gets too high it derates the car regardless of whether ACC is fitted or not.

Shame they can't hide it in the badge like some of the VAG cars.

It is nice to see that they expect people to track it though

I'm sure the car continues to function even if you have ACC and are at the track.

Overheating an M car is not so easy, many people will never get there. Hopefully they built off of the excellent F8X stock cooling system and made it a little better.

M cars have always served as dual duty cars and accept hard track use without many modifications. It's one of their stronger points.

That's what I thought too. Don't the previous gen M2/3/4 have the engine oil cooler unprotected at the bottom in the same place? How is that not a problem?

I think since they removed the front bumper, the oil cooler seems more exposed. Would be interesting to see the complete front end.

Current F8X has a plastic cover with large slits/openings but is still exposed to a degree and has on occasions have been met with untimely demises.

Maybe this has one too but they removed it prior to showing it off.

But if we leave them in separate threads people can come and complain about the aesthetics in every single one! If you put them into one thread it'll be even harder to keep them on topic

Let's give the moderators a chance to keep things orderly. By preemptively calling out negativity, you create a self-fulfilled prophecy. Great for your street cred as the next Nostradamus, but not great for discussion.

I personally prefer separate threads for these videos because they cover very distinct topics. Putting everything in one thread will make it difficult for users who are just interested in one or two technical aspects.
