MD Insurance Rate Increase
Hey all. Looking for some input regarding insurance. I've had my G80 for over a year now and I was paying 1700 for 3 cars every 6 months. I have the G80, a 2022 Sorento (wife) and a 2013 Accord shitbox (daily). I've been with progressive for over a decade I'm 38 and my wife is 41. No tickets/accidents and they want to up my rates to 2400 every 6 months. Seems a bit excessive. Anyone got any recommendations cause I ain't paying that 😂

Nothing to do with BMWs, insurace is parabolic all over the country. We are at 10k a year now for 4 cars in Florida, up from 3500/yr 3 years ago.
Total replacement value for all 4 cars? About 100k. Check out Costco's insurance offering or use USAA if you have military in the fam. |

Insurance in MD is ridiculous. I live in a rural area and when I moved here, my insurance went from $130 to $190 on my M2. Keep in mind, I lived in the Portland, OR city limits. I literally went from street parking in a neighborhood where I kept a loaded gun in my nightstand to a garage in a neighborhood where I don't lock my doors.
Current rate on my M3 is $230 with USAA, which is crazy for no accidents or tickets.

I checked Geico and they had me at 1400. I'd honestly hate to switch but if progressive won't go down to at least 1700 I don't think I'll have a choice.

That’s crazy. I don’t know if its the same with every insurance company but State Farm said rates went up this new year, BUT at the same time my premium went down moving from one county to another this same year.

Here are some figures from my Nationwide Smart Miles account (pay per mile coverage). I work from home so this is the most economical with my low driving amount. Screenshots are from Jan 2022, July 2023, and Jan 2024. I had a dip in base+mileage costs mid 2023, but it rebounded harder this past January.
