My dealer ONLY charges MSRP. So as others have said, total BS. I would let the SA know you called around and don't appreciate his lies to get your sale.

but yes there are a large majority of dealers charging over. Each dealer can set their own pricing. Its up to you as a buyer to accept it. With limited supply and very high demand, it makes it tough. However as yo know you can buy from any dealership in the US so you do have that to your advantage.

the supply/demand issue isn't just impacting dealerships its impacting everything these days.

Can confirm, picked up my M4 last week from Steve Thomas and was at MSRP like they promised back in November.
