Nice and welcome to the Greater Houston area! With the kind of heat we get down here that windshield crack will most likely extend even further, especially if your car will be parked in the sun daily. Just a friendly heads up!

And the car looks great with that exterior/interior color combo!

Bad luck. Glad you didn't have any other bad luck on your trip. My SO and I have put over 75k miles on our BMW's over the last 9 years (11 and half combined for our two cars) and haven't gotten a single significant rock chip, despite Oregon's tendency to use gravel on snow (when we get snow). Pure luck, I think.

I mean, if the OEM glass is that sucky why not give the aftermarket a shot? As long as it has the sound shield which i have seen on aftermarket

As far as I have been told, Safelite does not have it. Also worried about HUD as others have said.

Making progress! For those of you interested, the World Games already passed. No one on the road out here, keeping a nice safe speed (photo provided is from Mexico trip).

PS - To our friends in Alabama the left lane is for passing.

Get Stek DYNOFlex on your windshield.

My 435i from 2016 had a windshield that looked like the surface of the moon with rock chips when it was sold.

My X5 from 2021 had two rock chips that Safelite had to fill in, at roughly $150-$160 a pop.

My M4 from later that year had DYNOFlex installed for $500. It is flawless 8 months in. It will supposedly only last a year or two before accumulating wear from wiper blades, but I'll just have a new one put on then. No more micro-pitting/marring, and hopefully, a lot more protection from rocks, etc.

My glass was mostly recently replaced a few months ago...no issues at all. It took 3 days for the glass to arrive.

I do not use Safelite. I was told from my insurance broker not to use them.

There are several warehouses in Texas that will likely have something that fits. I had the same issue getting a rear window for my mercedes. Put in a Chinese window while I waited for a german one to come in.

I recommend you replace it with something cheap, and order an OEM windshield.

When I see a slow vehicle that refuses to move out of the passing lane, 8 out of 10 times, it's an AL plate.

I grew up there...its a great place for sure. Lots of good mtn roads for ripping around on

Glad I could fill in! I was originally going to go TR, but my 992 GT3 will be Guards so went IOMG. Car gets a wild amount of attention…

Everyone says it's so hot, but honestly, it's not much hotter than NJ in the summer. I think it's in everyone's heads
