Please Help. Tried doing square set up now my car is wobbling when turning wheels
Hello. I'm a newbie when it comes to wheels and spacers and suspend. . Took my car to a shop and I tried running 826M 20" Square with 12mm spacers on my RWD G80. The tires are rubbing on fenders when fully turning the wheels. The car was having a hard time going on reverse and moving forward and when I'm parked, the car is wobbling/wavy when turning the wheels left or right. We decided to remove the 20" because I thought it's too wide and it's hitting the spring and struts. We put the 19" factory wheels and tires along and. The 15mm spacers and it's still doing the wave/wobbling . Please help. Thanks in advance .

I removed the spacers. What is the torque spec for the wheels? And also someone explained in a diff forum that there will be a movement like see-saw effect when turning the wheels side to side. It just seems more of that see-saw effect when I put the 20" wheels. I tried it on my '22 G30 20" front lowered on Kw v3 and it was doing the same but not noticeable like the one on G80( my g80 is not lowered). And also, it was the g80 on 20" was having a hard time accelerating fwd and reverse like it was stuck on something

It sounds like your spacers might not be installed correctly. I would either removed them to ensure its not the spacers not sitting correctly. I think another member here ran into spacers not sitting flush due to the hub bore. They looked like they where flush, but they were not. In regards to feeling when you turn side to side. Anytime you space out your wheels offset (via wheel or spacer) from stock, you will feel more resistance turning the wheel. Same for lowering. It makes turning feel tighter. This is normal. I have no advise for as to why its hard to move forward or backwards. Thats ODD. 103.5ft torque for lugs I believe.

Regarding feeling stuck in forward/reverse
Dumb question but is your parking brake off? It sounds like your pistons are locked up on your rotors or your e brake is activated somehow. With the car jacked up, can you freely rotate your wheels? If not, something is binding. Taking the wheels off, can you move the rotor freely? If ot was working fine before you put your new wheels on and not after… well it sounds like they fubar’d the install somehow. Seeing how you took off the spacers and went back to your original wheels, something is wrong now. |
