I had the pleasure to see HMDriven.F87 's car during our meet last weekend. The new dash/display is very well integrated in person. The actual shape of the dash is different than ID7 G80 dashes.

I really like it. However, I am not envious....weird right?

I came into the M3 from a AMG that had the dual screens and more lights than Vegas, I thought the M3 interior was going to be a step down but it wasn't and most " experts" think the Mercedes screens and software is better.

I agree that this will evolve over the years and become a curved screen.

This was well done and I appreciate it.

Are you able to use cruise control in Sport Mode with ID7? In the video he says you can't in ID8.

Today I was in m2 mode (all sport +mode) and ACC worked great, didn't kick me out of sport. Idrive7

Can this display maps from other apps like Waze? I will be using an Android and usually use Waze. If this works, this is sick.

The only maps it displays will be the bmw proprietary maps and Apple Maps while you have a destination set. Google maps and Waze hasn't worked sadly.

Could of swore I saw Google maps displayed on the screen and partial maps on the heads up display on the ix before.

I have tried it with Waze and Google maps and it won't do it. Now if the phone connected is an android I can see the Google maps working. I wish Waze was the one allowed on!

Hate the screen after using it for a bit in an iX at the dealership but glad so many people seem to be welcoming it. Hopefully they integrate it a little better in future iterations and BMW stays at the top of the industry in terms of native infotainment systems!

... The issue with losing buttons in cars will be same as losing buttons on your phone.

Do some miss NOkia phones (or especially their Blackberies?).... Sure, some do. BUt who cares today. Everyone wants a bigger screen.

I think this is where this thing with screens in cars is going to go.

I just hope they intergrate them into design a little nicer than just sticking a panel. But may be it is ok also, the iX looks ok. Have to experience for myself. In the Taycan the screen looks super nice, ok to use, even if legibility is bad due to it being covered by the steering wheel (but Yoke can solve that too in future).

So looking forward to the new screens by BMW...

The i4 has SP18 vs the iX’s SP21 since the i4 derives from the normal 4 series. One way you can tell is the drive recorder, where the iX can do +- 40 second recordings vs the i4’s +- 20 second, but I don’t know if OP has it (or even if the G80s have it?)

Edit: Augmented Reality navigation view is also an iX SP21 (MGU21) exclusive thing, OP can maybe try that. For reference:
