Thumbs down SiriusXM - No 1 year subscriptions anymore

Hey!

So, today was a fight day between me and SiriusXM.
I just got my new M4CxDrive that comes with a 1-year subscription based on the sticker, website and even SiriusXM website. But it's not true anymore.

After 4 conversations with SXM, BMW Genius and my local dealership I found out that it looks like the BMW contract with SXM expired or was somehow canceled/changed. All new BMW cars have only 3 MONTHS of trial, not 1 year, even when all marketing says 1 year.

Let's hope they will fix this problem soon, but for now, we will have to pay for it after 3 months.

What made you even question that it wasn't a 1 year to begin with? What did you see that would indicate it expires in 3 months?

It's saying 1 year everywhere but in reality only 3 months. I have 1 year on stiker, BMW website, MyBMQ page and, sxm marketing page.

BMW Genius said that he received a lot of calls about it. The dealer told me that they know about it and it's affecting all new cars.

Yeah, this is a bunch of BS. BMW has to pay SiriusXM to extend to 1 year.

Same thing happened to me. Only a 3 month free subscription. Don’t know what happen to having a year free but I was tired of fighting.

I threaten to cancel my subscription every time and they give me some stupid steep discount for the next 6 months - try it. Just make sure to mark down the end date in your phone so you can do it again

It sucks that it's misleading like that, but I've never found anything on XM/Sirius that is worth paying for. I don't think I'd care if I didn't get any trial at all.

It's more than misleading. It's a lie. It's not vague, or open to interpretation. Window sticker says 1 year. The BMWUSA website still says 1 year. BMW needs to give us a year, or send us a check for the difference.

I had a streaming plan before. I tried to add my radio ID and it didn't work (just generic error) so I called them and they closed my streaming account and created a new one with a BMW Radio ID (same email, etc but different account #).

I personally like BPM and Chill stations. Useful when you want to just listen to some musing that is not on my Spotify playlists/recommendations.

A ha! Thanks for a clue to a related problem I’m currently having with my SXM account. Streaming at home no longer works since I cancelled my BMW radio. (We still have it active on our Jeep, and streaming still works on my phone.). SXM doesn’t recognize the userid/password when I try to stream via Sonos, despite recognizing me when I sign into SXM online.

SXM customer service was unable to diagnose the problem when I called during the weekend (when their technical department was closed); I’ll try again during the week and inquire if the issue is related to Radio ID / account number.

I may have a thread somewhere about this, but haven't found it yet (I guess I post too often, LOL).

My car initially had no Sirius d/t issues at the factory. It took a visit to the dealer for new software, and then they re-initialized the service, which put me into the 3 month intro. However (as noted above) my car was supposed to have one year, which took 2 calls with Sirius and 4 emails and phone calls with BMW before finally they agreed to reimburse me for a year subscription. Which they did, quickly. So kudos to BMW for making it right, eventually.

Call BMW customer experience at 855-269-3357.

How did you get this screen? Did you have to call Sirius, or were you able to just enter your radio id?

So interesting what consumers think and the level of cheapness in general.
$90K car and worried about $55 xm subscription. If I was a dealer I’d give you $100 and tell you to go pound sand

It's the bait and switch. It's the added time and energy. It's the lack of customer service.

It's not the money

Im the same as you. Dont care for XM/Sirius since I subscribe to Spotify and use the Audacy app to listen to local sports radio.

The dealer isn't manufacturing the car, providing the marketing or offering a one year trial of Sirrius/XM, BMW does, they should pay.
