I think it is JBV1 that uses Waze with Android.

I am currently using a V1 Gen 1 with no bluetooth, going to upgrade to a V1 Gen 2. From the reviews I've read, the R7 and R8 haven't perfected auto lockouts whereas your phone can do a much better job relaying that info over to the V1.

I had the lockouts on the last several Escorts that I've owned and it seems to work generally well on them. My V1 got so noisy that I just ignored it every time it went off. This was pre companion app. I'm still curious about the Radenso

Does anyone have a really good breakdown of how to remove the plastics on the rear view mirror for the wire tap? I installed my Uniden R8 with a blend mount but was unable to get my plastics off for the wiretap. It felt like I was going to break things if I pushed any further than I did.

There are three panels. None of the videos I saw discussed this. There are the two left/right halves, and then there is another that covers both of those on the mirror side. That third piece, once I discovered it, came off easily with just my fingers by pulling straight down from the window side of the piece. Once that piece was off the two left/right halves came of very easily.

If you try to take off the two halves without taking off the third piece, you'll have a very bad day.

Did this the other day. My tips are use a squeegee or a thin card. Start from the very bottom. U will get the card to slide in there. Leave it and grab another card and start from a little above the first card. You will have to give it a little force. Then it should pop off. You will feel like you broke it but job will be done. If you want to be extra safe, use some painters tape so u don't scratch the plastic.

In my area, it's 99% laser. No point in having a radar/laser detector. These things are getting out dated when most are using laser.

Anyone install Custom-Installed Stealth Radar System?
I live in an area which they are illegal. But doing a custom installed system is possible. Done it before in my 911.

In my current 2015 M4 Convertible, I have the Escort 9500ci (custom install) and its been good but Escort dropped Mac support for upgrading after it was installed.
That really irked me.

Now for my new (on order) 2024 M4 Convertible, I'm torn between Redlines 360c and Uniden R8. The main reason i'm not conisdering Escort or Uniden's custom install option this time around, is i'm not wanting to plunk down between $4K - $6K (parts & labor).

Cops around central FL use mostly KA band radar. Motorcycle cops use laser and for the first time I saw an OPD officer sitting in his cruiser using laser and not with a gun out the window, so not sure how that works. My R8 actually saved me from the cruiser using laser. I didn't think that was possible, it's mostly accepted that once your detector detects the laser, they already have you. Got lucky I guess.

I had the Redline 360c and switched to the R8. I like the angled display of the R8 better and it reports the radar signal strengths more accurately as you approach (and leave) a source.

@m3cs76 have you updated your redline 360c to latest firmware? Supposedly, the new firmware from a week or two ago, is supposed to greatly improve 360c performance, to perhaps beat the R8???

I didn't. I just finally sold the Redline about two week ago after it sitting on the shelf since I got the R8. I'm interested to know if it has improved or not. The two detectors are really close in performance, just a couple of minor nags separate them.

Supposedly the new firmware for 360c narrows the gap on responsiveness compared to R8. By how much, I don't know. The key experts, like Vortex, haven't ever shared (to my knowledge) such details to know exactly what is the difference in responsiveness. Are we talking microseconds, milliseconds, or seconds?

I was actually reading on Vortex this morning after reading your post. Their take is it has improved, just still not quite the "instant" response of the R8.

Agreed, but sadly there is no quantification of "not quite instant" the 360c is.

Anyone with an R7 deal with it rattling over bumpy surfaces? I didn't notice when I used the stock function mount because there was some give to that mount but when I mounted it to the mirror with a solid mount it got pretty annoying with the rattle. It sounded like something was loose inside when I would shake the unit itself off the mount, so I returned it and I'm getting a new one. Hoping the new one is quite.

I believe the Escort Redline is the most stealth one.
