Today was a good day because...

I didn't wake up at room temperature.

Today is a good day because it just hit me: cooking at home is great. I really missed this without noticing I did

It's a nice feeling to have food in the fridge, nice to feel accomplished after you make food and you taste it, and even nicer to not have to pay at least $20 per meal. Sounds dumb maybe but it's something I forgot.

In the bigger scheme of things, today is also a good day because I'm also realizing I'm happy again. I'd been feeling pretty bad since last November after my breakup, even started therapy. About a month ago I realized I was putting myself through this for no reason, that everything was "back to normal". Ironically life has been pretty good ever since I stopped talking weekly about my ex and other problems. Not in a "oh it's whatever" way, but not having that constant reminder has allowed me to focus on myself and try to get over all that's going on instead of constantly having to think about how something makes me feel. Yes sometimes it feels bad but if you trip and fall you need to get up somehow. So much has also happened in the past year too, I'm 3 days away from the "anniversary" of one of the best decisions I've ever made. I still miss having a girlfriend, but that's wildly different than having her as a girlfriend.

tldr: I love you all, very grateful for the e-friendships I have with you guys, for where I'm at with life, and everything else in between.

note: this post may have been brought to you by sunday afternoon beers but points are still valid

I'm glad to hear that things are coming around for you. Always remember that the single most important person in your life is you. You have to be happy with yourself before you can hope to be happy with anyone else.

... because my boss, out of the blue, told me I'm doing a good job and I should keep it up.

I was very surprised because it felt very random. He must've noticed it too and said "it felt like you needed to hear that". And I really, really did. What a great guy, I'd been mad stressed the last few weeks, and while also dealing with a coworker trying to undermine me. I genuinely appreciate him and it really made my week.

Because I upgraded from a zinfandel to a delicious chardonnay tonight. I'm a changed man. Lol

Cheers to one and all.

You're fortunate. While my immediate supervisor occasionally expressed appreciation for my work, his boss (who wandered through my area several times a day) never said jack-$hit. All she did was violate the principal of chain-of-command and directly give me new assignments - something that thoroughly irritated my immediate boss.

I'm so glad I retired.
