G80 M3 in winter ?

Hey everyone, i'm looking to buy a G80 M3 comp 2021 (so RWD). Anybody experienced driving such car in winter ?

I own three ///M cars and a winter beater so i'm looking to sell the M2comp and the beater and get a G80 as daily.

**Updated*** I will probably order a 2023 M3 xdrive individual color, carbon package, etc, PPF it and drive it 4 seasons !

Also from Quebec (Montreal) and ran 3 M3’s RWD here all year.

Not a big deal with winters on. We don’t get as much snow as we used to so not an issue.

We don’t even have snow on the ground and it’s mid December.

Whats your argument for getting a RWD comp instead of the xdrive?

Gotcha. In that case, if you get some good winter tires you should be fine. I dont see a reason why you wouldn't be good to drive it in winter. Have fun!

I can’t speak to the RWD version but I just got my M3 Competition that I’m looking forward to driving in the winter as soon as I get it PPFed and get winter tires put on.

I’m sure you would find the RWD model driveable in the winter for all but the worst of days. That being said, I’d try to go for a comp model for the extra power and benefits of x drive.

Located in Calgary. Use to drive f82 in Calgary winter, all good.
Now im driving a 22 m3 xdrive with individual color. 24/7/365. No problem at all.
But make sure you dont save budget on winter tires. Only recommend things like pa4/5 OR sottozero from pirelli.

I am running OEM size. 275/35/19 front and 285/30/20 rear. Winter Sottozero.
The size is super rare and quite costly. 2500$ for just 4 tires.
But I would say money well spent, nice grip and still retain the OEM look in winter season.

I drive my G80 AWD in winter and love it. So I can talk about my experience with an AWD

You can read this winter review if you wish (it's in French)
https://www.guideautoweb.com/article...-sur-la-glace/

The traction is awesome. The only time I feel like it's RWD is when you're are at a Stop sign and quickly turning 90 degrees. The rear of the car drifts a bit (it's fun!). Otherwise, it's a great AWD.

My other comment is more about the brakes. In winter they make noise with winter dirt but if you clean them with a water jet without removing the wheels every week or two weeks, it's fine. Clean well between the pad and the disc and also the holes in the discs.

Here is my winter tires kit, but I received it with Winter Pirelli on it :

I have the same setup, it’s been handling as well in the snow as anything I’ve driven here (328xi GT, Audi a4, X3)

I drove my RWD M4 Manual in winter and just picked up a manual M3 that I drive in winter now. These cars are great in the snow with a good set of snow tires.

everybody is saying to me it is not a good idea to get manual RWD G80, pair of tires to change every year, not xdrive... resale value very affected also..

They don’t know what they’re talking about.

Also I would get snow tires/wheels even with x-drive. My RWD with snow tires would be better an x-drive with all seasons.

(I’m from Canada and have experienced winters with 16 feet of annual snow fall and have driven performance cars through winter for over 30 years)
