I went to the dealer today and sat in both seats and I could not see myself dailying and doing the same routine I do with my Q5 with the carbon seats. On the other side I know I would hate myself for not having them at a track day..

I think if you don't use the car on a track more than 2-3 times a year or ride very curvy roads on a regular basis there is not much need for them, the regular seats will have way more benefits in this situation.
I agree with you. I'm large, 6'4" and 250lbs and I just couldn't see myself daily driving in the CF buckets. LOVE the styling but I actually think I won't like the car as much driving it for hours at a time in the buckets.

So, I'll get Fiona (can't get in CF) and ventilated and enjoy the daily.

For those you getting the CF, awesome. They are gorgeous seats! It's not a poor choice and I think that's the conclusion here. Neither is a poor choice.

I just had the opportunity to sit in a M4 with the carbon seats. They look amazing and are definitely functional in keeping you snug at the track, but at 6'3" and 225lbs, they are TIGHT. Getting in is not a problem, but getting out is much more complex, especially if you are trying to avoid not damaging the seats leather bolsters. Even when trying to get out carefully, it is not easy with my height. I also don't think they would be comfortable for a long trip, as I was very snug in them.

Love the seats , just going to be a lot of maintenance. These seat bolsters will be completely worn out after a 3 year lease for those who are not extra careful.

The side bolsters are indeed the only thing bothering me on those seats and made me headache wheter to go for them or not.
I did in the end option for them just because they look insanely good and also fit myself very good.
I just now have to take EXTRA care to not destroy these bolsters within a couple of months.
Thought about wrapping some kind of invisible plastic or something.

I will say it again... people these days worry about stupid inexistent problems... we create those problems for ourselves and then waste our life worrying about them... as far as I am concerned, bolster problem is a non existent one and getting in and out is a matter of getting used to. How they will hold up or wear is not our concern at this point because we don’t know if it will wear out or not, we don’t have any facts. Enjoy life people, don’t analyze too much and get any freaking seats or options that your soul desires!

This car is more than a couple of seats. Just seems reaaallly silly to try and boil it down to "it's a radically different car with the seats" or basically insinuating without these two seats the car has nothing else to offer over any other 3 series.
You are over generalizing. No one said the car is worthless without the seats. I said it adds to the sporty personality.
That's not true - the original comment stated that if you don't get the CF seats you might as well buy a regular 3 series. Do you agree with that? Personally I think it's utter nonsense.

Well when seeing the demo car which was used by some people to sit in and the leather is already wearing out I think the concerns are justified.

That's what I have seen on the Demo Car by myself...of course, these people don't look out and I will look out when jumping in and out, but it is undeniable a idiotic design.
The bolster without the leather would have been way better for this reason.

And I took the seats. Because I love them.

I also saw some demo cars without carbon seats with bolsters already worn out... this problem is not specific to the carbon seats...

That is not what I said. Don't think you can quote what someone else said as a counter argument to my point. My point, again, is if comfort is your main priority, an m340 (or an m550) will better meet that goal. The M3 is an amazing car however you option, but is focused on sport first. In my opinion, the CB seats add to its sporty personality. That's all.

Also, I doubt every person chiming in has actually sat in the seat. Many had to jump on barely available allocations without seeing the car in person.

Even some F8X cars had this issue with the side bolsters.

They're definitely going to wear out, I'm going to an upholstery shop to see if I can get a custom wrap on them.

I'm going with black interior, should alleviate this a little bit.

I agree cost is only a minor consideration as most are already spending $85k and there aren't too many options (unlike Porsche)

To me it's the getting in and out more than anything. Bad back, wife and kids kicking back of beautiful carbon seats...

If standard are like my X3MC they are perfect and it's not like a m340i...

Best way to summarize them is that they are functional, and look amazing, but they are not practical for an everyday driver.

Wait...but I was told if they were free, everyone would take them. This can't be true!

This has been a good social experiment of the telephone game. "Most would change their mind and pick the CB seats if free," turned into "Everyone would pick it if free and the car is useless otherwise."

I prefer the standard seats. CF seats look cool and have better room in the back, but not for me.

The standard seats are the first BMW seats that I'm actually happy with. If I could spend a month with the carbon seats (and measure my SO's silly expressions dealing with them), then a comparison could be made.

But ALL of us can only comment on the ones we've had to live with for more than a 20 minute test drive. And your size matters. Height, weight, leg to torso ratio...it all matters with car seats.

I thought the M seats in my M2C were great...the first week I had them. By the second week, I was happier with them than I had been compared to the seats in my previous BMW's but overall it was clear that they weren't going to be satisfying. And I was right. They got harder over time and while they weren't terrible, they weren't good, either (except for holding you tight in curves...they were great for that).

So, five weeks in with the base seats, I STILL think they're near-perfect...but the true test is probably six months from now while stuck in traffic for two hours or on a long drive.

They look uncomfortable, but I do read that they’re pretty good and a must order option.

I tried out the seats today. I'm not thin (anymore) so the seats were just too snug of a fit for me. They are beautifully designed, but I wouldn't want them for a daily driver.

Definitely not a must order, don't start that discussion up again...
