Yep, under steer was nasty. Didn't look like a well balanced chassis or fun to drive at that pace. By the end of the lap the front tyres were gone.

Quite a bit slower than the manual base F80 (1592kg, 4.2 0-100 and 13.6 0-200), so the lap time is even more impressive! The great chassis makes up for the weight and engine.
Hi,
the claimed time for 0-100km/h is 4.3 sec for F80 MT. So same time as for G80 MT. Claimed time for 0-200 km/h is indeed 13.6 sec for F80 MT but, F80 MT needs 14.5 sec for 0-200 km/h, according to ZePerfs (3 measures).

In summary the G80 MT has nearly the same acceleration performance (hardly better) as F80 MT. Despite more powerful ( 480 PS vs 431 PS), the G80 MT is heavier (even if it is less heavier than initially anticipated from the claimed weights). SCx (resistance to air penetration) plays obviously also a role at high speeds but I need to figure out the values for G80 and F80 respectively.

0.4 second slower than V10 R8 is a big WOW...
And M5 is more powerful ( 10% more power to weight ratio) with superior ZF transmission...
V10 R8 convertible on street tires which weights close to 3900 pounds is not exactly tough competition .

Much less than the F80 or F87 anyway.

I was going to say this but didn’t want to be the first. Granted this guys is a Hockenheim specialist and all that, but a little extra smoothness and less oversteer (and understeer) cannot harm, can they?

I doubt he just goes out blind and does a hot lap. That is probably the fastest lap he did of a few after a session of getting to grips with it.
