My theory is that the car looks best in black, not because the grille "disappears", but because the lower trim is body color and the overall shape and stance improves significantly.

Everything looks better lowered. I like it. I want to see one of these on track spec wheels / suspension.

Rims are the cars shoes bro. Just like certain basic shoe types, they can NEVER get played out, especially if u dress well. I'm tastefully nodding my head if that drove past me in the street. 👌🏾
Sure about that...?

Thankfully the three spoke design that was all the rage in the '90ies disappeared...

They have explained that this is a design element taken from GT3, F1 and other race cars that often have a black floorline.

When I stated basic, I really meant styles that made a base for consistent reproduction, which can be based heavily on public opinion. Y spoke wheels are very similar to the 5 split spoke wheels, in which both have been around forever and will continue to look timeless.

That 3 spoke creation was prob made to be trendy, hence it being it hit for few and a miss for many, or just dated. At this point, best on the Foxbody, 1gen Viper - maybe an Escort. 🤷🏾*♂️

I'm with you for your reasoning on black side skirts and black color but unlike your reasoning I think the black is best bc it also hides the front schnoz better

*Insert comment about grille here*. In all seriousness, I think this looks pretty good. Is it the best looking M3/M4? In my opinion, probably not. However, bold statement - I think it will age well over time and I think that's exactly what BMW was going for.
