F80 lease ended in December, trying to extend until AWD G80 order goes through
My F80 lease expired 12/31. I called BMW financial and got a 2 month extension to wait for the new G80 M3. Once I read all of the reviews I was 100% that I wanted the G80 AWD. I spoke to my salesman and this was his plan for me: "Order" a RWD G80, get a production number and BMW financial will extend lease 6 months. Then we can switch to a AWD order and I will be good.
The problem is, now we are four months in and I still do not have a production number. BMW Financial gave me two more months (to end of April) to get a production number. At this point I'm not sure BMW Financial will keep extending without a production number. I want the AWD, what should i do? Is it possible to keep extending lease until summer to get the AWD? |

there isn't any allocations for AWD models yet. Still some months out on those to roll out.

now on the flip side as you know as soon as you are assigned a allocation you will get a production number so if you dont have a production number then obv you dont have a allocation. either way hope it all works out, i would def keep trying BMWFS and make sure you exhaust all your options with them but your situation may put you at a disadvantage if you are looking to wait till the AWD models.

your dealer maybe was trying to be helpful, maybe just misinformed, but kinda screwed you... however, now that you are screwed you will get alot farther calling bmwfs and explaining the circumstances where you were told you would be fine, then likely escalating up the chain for an exemption, if you are willing to throw your dealer under the bus.
I was in the same boat with a lease up in dec and wanting an AWD model there really was no way within BMWfs policy to bridge more than 6 months. There probably should be some exemption for M car buyers because of the M car delayed intro. If leasing is going to be a part of their core retention strategy, they need additional flexibility if they are going to leave high loyalty models out of production for extended periods of time. |

Car needs to be a lease as it is a company car. I want AWD for speed, just like 90% of the people waiting for it.

Seems to me your only options at this point if you can't buy out the lease would be to either lease a RWD one then do a lease transfer once you can get the AWD ordered and delivered or do a short term (1yr) lease on a RWD or other BMW and then get the AWD M3 in a year.
