Poor lad in the F82. I've seen that too. In his defense I really think he lost control b/c of that manhole cover. Left wheel lost grip while the right continued to grab road...

For these G80 owners though, I dunno how they end up in these positions or with as much damage as they've been receiving.

Maybe the pig-nose grill is helping them catch enough air to take flight?

I was talking about track times (around the circuit, not in the strait line), because that is a good indication of the traction/grip
The best 1/4 mile time I have heard for the G8X is 11,4 sec. and that is probably the fastest time for any RWD BMW.

Is there a ring time yet for the G car yet? I don't do that type of racing so I don't really care but would like to know what it did. Also, I would hope it's faster than a 12 year old model GTR. That is my biggest complaint about the new M. It seems to be barely quicker than a 10 year old GTR. I was just hoping for a bit more I guess. Maybe one day I will grab an AWD

There is an upside, you can't see the grill now.

No doubt driver nursing their pride , looking at the insurance form they now have to fill in and wondering what words to put in that little box....

When it came out, the GTR was miles ahead of everything else, and even the Porsche was testing their cars alongside the GTR on the track to figure it out how the heck that car was so fast!

I'm sure if the GTR was only RWD, the G8X would toast that car on the drag strip.
We'll see what the AWD G8X will bring to the table, but I'm sure it is going to be pretty good because the RWD is using the second gear for the launch, and using the fist gear and all 4 wheels is going to be much more quicker!

How do you say you don't care about ring racing in one sentence then complain about its ring performance in another? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I'd like to know what the G80 does around the Ring. And yeah the GTR is a fat pig, they definitely need a redesign. I feel like they have had the exact look for 12 plus years. I really like the concept Z a lot, I hope they go in that direction with the next iteration.

at this rate, the G80 might become a limited production vehicle. Move over M2CS.

Not complaining about the ring time. I was just curious what it was. I personally don't road track my cars. My GTR does exactly what It was built for. I also agree with people it's not the nicest car ever made/ ugly even. ( This is of course is everyones opinion, just like people who hate the new G models so that is what it is ) But it fucking rips!! Puts a smile on my face and makes passengers shit themselves ( In a good way) I've had other high powered cars and this by far has been THEY best overall. Not sure how many people have ridden in a 1000 whp car, but once you do/ your hooked. Your 11.3 -11.7 sec G whatever is going to feel like your Grandparents station wagon. LOL. I will be sad to sell my F82, but its time for a new project. I'm not hating on the new M cars at all. I like them. Have owned 3. Just going for something different. I look forward to big power AWD G series. Just one more car to whip up on in my UGLY FAT NISSAN

I'm not saying the ring time is the problem. I was just HOPING that 11 years after the GTR was released, this new M3/4 would have been a bit more aggressive. Not saying it's a turd, I guess I just had to high of expectations.

I think he lost control because they cut too much weight off the car

This isn't looking good for insurance rates!
Thank you for sharing this. Lot of knowledge here.

even 1000whp AWD G8X's (they will come sooner than most ppl think as developers like Kratos are working on it) won't be able to beat insane number GTR's. I don't think anyone can beat GTR's (Miami Performance even beat a 3000whp UGR Huracan). But the G8X interior will be better, it'll have four doors if you want, and I'm hoping the trans won't be as much of an issue as with GTR's (I don't think they will given 1100whp fully built F90's can handle that same trans). Would be cool to have both tho

At the end, you can't beat the physics- it doesn't matter what do you drive
The HP doesn't matter when compared to a multimillion dollar race car, the power to weight ratio is a more important factor. The M3 will be much easier to drive in comparison. But I understand the point you're making.

Reminds me on that one, when the F80 / F82 came out on the market.

The GTR was light years ahead of the competition with its intelligent ATTESA E-TS Pro in combination with the transaxle architecture. It had a lot of weight on the rear axle, and was capable to torque vector to each wheel independently. Also, when I'am not mistaken, it incurred a yaw sensor to determine the yaw rate and anticipated on "what's next" to sustain and control the yaw on entry, apex and exit. This was translated as "this is the first supercar that a granny can drive around the circuit at 90% of its abilities".

All competitors were still in the highly analog macho driver controlled phase. But in the meantime, most have bridged the gap.

Watch this honey, just another 10 yards and 2 degrees more yaw angle and I've nailed that 5 star drift analyser score.
