In the case of the M4 how do you plan to fix the rest of it?

Well at least the m3 and m4 still have a front bumper. Toyota has done away with front bumpers.

Also, to the original question of this thread, there is the cost of just buying the thing but then you have to have it painted and installed which is probably another $500 plus

Apparently some people love it, but I am not really a fan. Just think they could have done better on the design. You just have to wrestle so much with it mentally for it to look good. I think BMW could have done better and that modification can for sure make it look better.

I like the direction that IND is going, and would very likely do this if I bought the car. Interested to see what their Phase 3 looks like as well.

Can definitively say that I like this better than stock.

I am "ok" with the grill, but if I were to consider a mod, it would be something simple, not expensive, and easy to change back. I too would consider something like this, but nothing requiring significant modification or changes to the entre front.

Agree, in practice, think I would end up about the same. The idea of hacking up a 100k brand new car is a bit much but also don't view the design as a home run, either. (Which I would definitely say about E30, E36, E46, F80). At the same time, do appreciate a bold step at least, and to me the rest of the car is generally very well done.

The folks at IND are working on another stage modification after that one shown, so am interested to see what they come up with on that as well.

The front bumper is the initial objection but I can get over it. The dodge hood, Lexus rear and civic type r parts bother me more and more. I don't understand what the designers were thinking.

Same group of designers that also did the e36, e39, e46, e9X, and the F8X.

I'm old enough to remember the the massive amounts of hate over the e60 and Bangle's flame surfacing.

BMWs Design Director has been a designer at BMW since 1992. Alexander van Hooydonk.

van Hooydonk signed off on the F8X and personally oversaw the design and had a hand in designing the E9X. So when people say 'I CANT BELIEVE DESIGNERS SIGNED OFF ON..." They tend to have no clue what they are talking about. It's the same guy responsible for some of their favorite cars.

Still what?

Probably mostly true depending on how their hierarchy is set up, but it is clear that the finer details of this design specifically were more closely done by Domagoj Dukec . Impossible to say without directly knowing how the folks operate in the design section of the company, which pretty much nobody here will.

Can count me in on still thinking the E60 was a design flop, not a fan at all.
