M4cs weigh 3,525~3,600lb depending on options. M3cs are heavier at 3,600~3,650 depending on options due to less weight reduction and heavier 4-door chassis. M4GTS has a rollcage plus boat anchor 0.5" wider 666M wheels and therefore weigh about the same as an M4cs.

I find it weighs in a tad low compared to what I'd expect (by 30~50lb). From my own experience, I do not trust industrial scales for accurate "lower" weights reading, that's not their forte.

Bucket seat will offset the full leather and upgraded rims. Exce package is not more than 20-30 lb... But who cares about 1660 kg vs 1650 kg? With this much power, power to weight ratio is good for this car

I agree with who cares though. All real life performance numbers point to that the new car will demolish all F8X performance on track, drag strip and street other than the GTS which it seems to be able to run pretty much toe to toe with. Oh but the wear on consumables someone adds, well being that much faster it will increase wear heavier or not Who cares indeed of a few lbs when they are put to this good use. Luxuriously appointed as an M5 and drives like an M2 Evolve says in their latest video after 1500 miles with the car. Isn’t that bulls eye what an optimal M3 should be? This is cute. Every time a new M3/4 generation comes out, everyone with a down payment tries to justify the weight. Wondering how fat it needs to get before people start demanding a trend reversal.

To me it looks more like someone is annoyed because the car weighs less and drives better than they thought, and tries to prove the opposite for who knows what reason

It wouldn't be easier: look, drive, judge. If you like buy it, if you don't like pass over.

If you want to see real weight gain go look at track record of 997 to 992 gen 911's.

If you want a light, sports car, then BUY A LIGHT SPORTS CAR. It's 2021. So I want some luxury and some sound-deadening with my M3/4 now. It's a combo GT and occasional track fiend vehicle. I don't want to have to buy the larger executive cruise missile M5 to have some luxury trappings. And you know there will be a CS version for you folks who want to save 100 pounds, so just wait. But for me, I'll be enjoying all of the comfort features in my new M. Hec, I'm mad I can't kick underneath the trunk and the lid doesn't open hands-free. |

meanwhile, Porsche gets a "start from scratch" model to build a sports car and M has to use the base model as their platform.

Weight question I didn't see addressed.... especially thinking about the comparisons to EU cars.
What is the weight of the OPF filter system? The US (and a few other markets?) do not have this system. Is it a meaningful weight savings? |

If buyers demanded the 3 series be smaller and lighter, it would trickle down to M, but that's not what buyers want in a 3 series. So I mean what are they supposed to do? They don't get to design this thing from the ground up. |

You're crying over weight meanwhile the car does 0-60 in 2.5 and runs a mid-high 9 sec quarter mile with less than $5,000 in mods. Sad to see you go!

Absolutely! Look into Jb4, flex fuel sensor, and e40 fuel mix. Jb4 alone (at less than $1,000) will get you into mid 10s in the quarter mile with a 2.8-2.9 0-60. Ethanol mixture and better tires will get you into 9s with less than 2.5 second 0-60. This is with xDrive of course.
