Agree. I currently own M2c and F80; I don't feel significant weight difference but I definitely sense size difference.

Agreed, adding 100-150 lbs including bigger tires, beefier bracing, wider track etc. while also adding substantial power does not suddenly transform a 3500+ lbs car to another segment. It remains a very similar type of car. Until you add AWD then it becomes something different for sure. Overall better or worse? Well that remains to be seen

Placebo Effect at work in reviews? Maybe. The fact that everyone assumed the new car would be much heavier probably placed preconceptions when doing the reviews, rather than driving from a 100% objective standpoint. That's why we've seen some say the car feels heavier, and some others say it drives resembling some throwable characteristics from the M2.

very reasonable weight considering the improvements to the car.

don't forget the M4GTS was 3600lbs (claimed to be a lightweight model).

I think we need to ignore this data because it doesn't seem to align with what was previously "proven" that this car weighs 4k lbs or more. The posts backing the 4k number included significantly more words, paragraphs, and hypothetical data. All it appears you did was read from an actual scale, nowhere near the amount of diligence and effort.

Well one of the only competitors left (actually similar car, luxury/size/performance/price) the RS5 is 4003 lbs with auto and AWD.

My guess is xdrive M4 comes in around 3900 lbs (plus has 60 extra hp and 35 torque)

What other car in this category is under 3800 lbs and competes performance and comfort/luxury?
Under $80k US

I don't mind the front grill because I won't see it while driving 😂

Get an F82 on the same scales.

Same issue as with getting cars on different dynos.

With cf wheels and a full titanium exhaust, it could drop even more pounds and greatly reduced rotating mass. Potholes are always a safety concern but this low weight is great news. Thanks op for measuring and sharing with us.

The M4 is significantly bigger looking. Would be surprised if the M4 was lighter than the M3.

According to BMW, the G82 is 10lb lighter than the G80.

The extra greenhouse, doors and height of the G80 offsets the extra body width of the G82.

CT4 Blackwing, but the backseat is too small for my needs.

This. There’s some extra glass in the M3.

Visually, it seems backwards doesn't it? The G80 looks wider than the G82 because of the fender shape.

Audi has been AWD forever but have always been more tame than bmws (not because of AWD, because of how they market and tune them)

People act like sports cars have never been AWD.
911s, f type, some high end super cars...

BMW gave everyone the option why are people still complaining?

The base 4-series' body is 1" wider than the base 3-series', hence why the M3 needs wider fender flares to accommodate the G8X tracks that are shared between the M3 and M4. It was the same with the F8X.

Nothing on the options sheet will add 400 lbs, so I say go nuts.

Anybody know what the ballpark extra weight is for Exec Pack?

Kinda stupid to ask, but I wonder how much extra those electronic bits add.

Figure 10~20lb, with the power tailgate being the bulk of it.
