Valentine One Hardwire in G80?

Taking delivery of my M3 tomorrow, has anyone hardwired a V1 into one of these yet? Wondering which color wires I should use to piggyback by the mirror (and any info on removing the cover to get to the wiring)

Yes, exact same as the G2X. You pull down on the piece above the mirror (it's basic clips holding it up). Also, you don't need to remove the other trim pieces, but if you wanted to, slide them left or right to remove.

From there just tap the outer most wires brwn/black is negative (left side) and Pink/Reddish is positve (right side of plug).

I had "mini" taps which were pretty easy to slide into the plugs. Larger taps might be harder.

I can take pics of anyone needs them.

Just did it, pretty simple, though the car apparently constantly sets off the laser detection. Anyone have a solution to that?

I was reading on the G20 forum and it's to do with the gesture control. There's a sensor you can tape up but you'll lose the GC obviously, not that anyone uses it I think.

I think some of the newer detectors let you block specific frequencies. I don't recall my V1 allowing you to do that, but you can probably turn laser detection off. If your laser detector goes off they already have your speed, so not sure it's a huge help.

When my new car comes in I'm going to leave the V1 in my wife's glovebox and get a Uniden R7 for myself. It allows pretty extensive adjustment. That said, I didn't get the Exec Package so this shouldn't be a problem for me.

I have the original V1 and I recall making some changes years ago that resolved this.
Off the top of my head I don’t recall why changes I made but have no false alarms in my new F80 M3. I did disable gesture control prior to installing the detector.

This was the guide I used.
Possibly enabling Traffic Monitor Filter and Junk-K Fighter.

If I remember what I changed I’ll reply.

I have an R7 and don't have any type of false laser alerts in my m3c with all the assists and gesture stuff. I can check my 9500ix if anyone cares.

The solution i have found is to put a 1/4 diot of black tape over the rear laser sensor on the V1 Gen 2.

I don't think in 15 years of running V1 I ever actually had a rear laser alert...

Is there anywhere else you can wire it into besides the mirror? I know it's not as ideal but I usually put mine in the left lower windshield so it's kind of out of the way.

Dang, this is kind of a bummer for my V1 gen 2 purchase for my g80. Really wanted to plug in and be ready to rock. I wonder if the escort max360c has the same issue?

The gesture control is what sets the laser off. I have my laser off on my V1 Gen 1, and it looks like there is a way to turn off the rear laser detection only on Gen 2. As far as I know all the laser does is let you know to pull over since the cop already has your speed.

Curious why you want to run the hardwire rather than using the mirror tap?

Yes I connected differently. I bought long cable and mirror mount.
Mounted Val1 to a mirror and started to hide the cable in roof sheathing and slowly going to the right side of windshield pillar from there to the back trunk charger. ! Hard to explain but here is some quick pictures.

I don’t use that trunk charger anyway. I use for valentines after when bmw removed my favorite location which was under glove box compartment. Cables are not visible and look like hardwired

I installed the Valentine1 Gen2, blend mount and ran wiring to OBD2 Valentine Savvy plug in my 2022 M4. It works perfect. Looks close to stock as you can get. It took less than 30 minutes.
