Not really surprising as the car basically has no front bumper due to the grill and it's packed with sensors (at least when optioned). Chances are a low speed parking lot tap to the front is going to cost more than your deductible to fix (thousands) and the insurers know this. Similar stories happened regarding insurance when Audi and Lexus went grill crazy.

+$430 above the coverage of my current 2018 M2. Early 40's, married, have homeowners insurance through the same carrier.

My agent said that 500HP was irrelevant it was purely based on the value of the car. HTH

VIN specific and it comes out to an additional $169 a month after multiple vehicle discount, estimated less than 5k annually, and good driving record, etc.

My M8 Competition Coupe Ins is $283 a month after discounts. The M3 CP isn't bad all things considered.

I know the question of the thread is how much did it go up, but total annual cost would also be interesting to compare. I know there are variables, multi car, age, etc, but still would be interesting to see the numbers

Was paying $1145.00/year for my 2010 528xi which I traded for a 2021 M340xi and now I pay $1425.0 that is a 25% increase and I did not change anything. NJM Insurance. So, yes expect at least 25% increase or more since the M3 has more power. The more power the more expensive insurance is. The fact that my 528Xi was 11 years old did not make much difference I was told only about $80.0 or so. Is not so much the value of your car lability gets very expensive with high power cars.

Both come into play value and power of the car and my agent told me the opposite, liability for a high power car is very expensive.

I currently pay $1482 annually for a 2018 M2 and a 2018 Macan. The M3 will raise my rate to $1912 annually. (early 40s, married, homeowners policy with same carrier, clean driving record, excellent credit)

FWIW the real kick in the pants is what my state (MN) charges for vehicle tabs... I'll have to pay $1100 next year to keep current. Ugh.

Interesting, who is your current carrier? I probably should have specified SafeCo (Liberty Insurance) doesn't care about the HP but others might.

FWIW I go through a broker vs a direct insurance rep. I probably change my home/vehicle/umbrella policies at least every 2 years to get the best rate. It's a lot easier when you're not only dealing with Jake from State Farm every year and highly recommended.

Yep this is so true...my family always all had All-State and they were just slowly increasing our rates every year without us even realizing and then I ended up switching to geico and my m240i insurance with geico costs half of what insuring a Subaru impreza through All-State cost coverage is comparable too. Of course All-State offered to match if I switched back a year or two later

I replaced my 2018 M4 with my 2021 M4 and my payment went up $1 per month, which works out to $667 every 6 months

Just upgrade to a 2021 M3 Competition and insurance cost did not change from the 2021 M340xi, so that was good news.

How about a review for your fellow M340i owners here who will be upgrading next year. You could post it in the G20 fora.

the 6 month premium for both my wife’s 2021 X3M and my G80 M3 is about $780 combined. that’s with a bunch of discounts like pay in full, auto pay, multi-car, home owner policy, landlord policy, and umbrella policy. not sure how much all that factors in for discounts but my premium went down between the F80 and G80. we both work from home full time and i’ve put 7500 miles on the F80 in 3 years. Maybe that’s why?

What kind of policy limits do y'all have!? Maybe because I have high limits (FL requires lessees to carry a minimum of $100K/$300K -- and we carry around 2x that). To insure our 2021 X5MC and my wife's 2019 430i GC we pay about $450/mo. Both driving records are clean (I did get a speeding ticket for the first time in about 15 years recently, but I handled it and no points were assessed).

EDIT: My deductibles are also super low ($100 collision and $250 comprehensive) and I have really high PIP and property damage limits that cover lost wages for me and immediate relatives. Also the policy is stacked so the limits are actually $500K/$1M for both regular and uninsured/underinsured (UM). So perhaps I have an overkill policy, but you can't be too careful in FL with all the shitty drivers.

For each car:
$250,000/person injury limits
$500,000 limit each occurrence

$100,000 property damage limit each occurrence
(same limits for uninsured/underinsured)

$500 deductible

I have an umbrella policy as well that would cover me beyond that for medical, if I get sued, etc.

Wait. Are the numbers in this thread even real? Why am I quoted 300 per month from geico and an absurd 430 from statefarm? This makes me think I am a reckless driver which I am not. I had 0 ticket in the past 3 years

Age, other policies with the same provider, driving record, claims, miles expected to be driven per year, how you pay (6 months upfront or monthly?), auto draft or not, etc...all these things factor into my rates as discounts

For example, my discounts for auto are as follows:
Multiple car
Multiple policy
Antilock brakes
Premier Plus
New car
Allstate easy pay plan
Good payer
Fullpay
preferred package

No idea what some of these discounts are

I would think I'm as good as I could be with usaa. Have my house, two cars with them. Single middle-aged driver clean record, no accidents, both cars are new in good shape with safety features and tracking, etc. $1,000 deductible. I've been with them for about 30 years now. Yet I'm still not getting some of the low rates that I'm seeing on here. I think I was still up in the 1500 a year range last I looked. Are rates negotiable?
