Active Sound Design
I have read conflicting info on the ADS in the G8X. Has anyone confirmed if the ADS is indeed pumped in through the speakers a la F8X or if there is a Porsche 911-like diaphragm tube in the firewall that pumps in "real" engine noise?

I can't answer your question specifically but I test drove one today. The sound being pumped in sounds very "electronic"

I doubt very much if BMW which appears to have been totally committed to providing us with manufactured 'engine sounds' all of a sudden decides to switch to resonator tubes funneling real engine sounds. Fakery has been their hallmark in this regard and there's no reason to expect a change in technology at this point, and if they did, Im sure we would have heard about it.

I don't have my car yet, but I'm sure those that do have already tried...let's see if someone else chimes in.

I've had limited seat time in the g80, but from my two test drivers, I wasn't able to tell. Maybe this will change with time once my car arrives.

I had very limited seat in the G80 so can't for sure but it was definitely VERY noticeable in the F80. It would even make the speaker in the door buzz on full throttle.

The only time I could conceive of wanting it would be if I had a friend in the car I wanted to impress with the engine sound. Otherwise that fancy engine noise is just all in my head. I used to think that the people outside the car were hearing the same coolness I was inside the car only to figure out that it was figuratively all in my head. It seems like they ALMOST got it correct in this car with it being off when the flap are closed. What it should have been is to allow it on or off via an iDrive setting. Certainly seems like it would be simple enough to do. Looking forward to coding it off.

If your wife loved you but wasn't attracted to you For a while itd be fun having sex with her, until you find out she's not attracted to you and just trying to make you happy...would you still enjoy having sex with her? If you buy a 500hp 80k+ car I'd like some level of authenticity...the car sounds good enough alone regardless of the volume, no need for this artificial nonsense

@snareman I do believe I've read where this is possible on the M550i or maybe it's the M5, I can't recall which. But I agree with you, it should be an easy-to-use driver setting.
