Why are there Porsche owners in here justifying buying Porsche's?!? Do you not think that BMW drivers are aware? We know P car owners get a bit of anxiety at the track when M's run with and/or beat them. We don't need to be told how great higher end Porsche's are. We already know!!!

This is probably the weakest flex EVER.
Agreed. I would drive my F82 over that particular Porsche. GT3 or bust!

I'm glad this is out there. There should be more competition so porsche can realize that they're overpricing.

Only if it was a competitive race car and based on series rules, paddles or H pattern shifting was allowed so it was a competitive disadvantage.

For a car that I am buying as an enthusiast to enjoy every moment of, including the most mundane trips to and from work, I don't care about losing a small amount of performance potential. There's a reason why M2 has a 50% manual take rate and the 911 GT3 is over 70%.

Idk what we're even arguing about at this point. Maybe we can race stop lights to end it?
Is this the part where I post a picture of it for more douche points?

You'd lose the drag race just like you lost this argument.

A car that costs $40k+ more as standard? Porsche choose to price their base at the same level as the M4, so that's obviously what would be the comparison.
A 3/4 series, no matter what spec (M or not) will never be able to compete with a 992 chassis. These are daily commuter cars with a little extra power, the 992 is a sports car that shares its chassis with the GT3, turbo S, etc.. so we're comparing a "base" model 992 to the top trim 4 series

A drag race doesn't mean anything. Driving dynamics is what ultimately matters.

BMW owners get so damn butt hurt when their cars are compared to an Infiniti or Lexus; yet they pound their chest whilst beating a base Carrera in a lame drag race. Oh the irony....

I own a BMW; but I don't have an ego issue or a case of blinded brand loyalty that prevents me from calling a spade, a spade.

A Dodge demon would annihilate a G80/82 in a drag race for less money. So is everyone ready to trade in their BMW for one?......therein lies the truth.
Lol the Demon cost more. You would have to spec out the G82 with a crap load of options to hit the same price point.
But the demon is based off a chassis developed in 2008 hahaha

I get the frustration of people that don't like the design. I'd probably be pissed too if I didn't like it. M brand is a bit too close to my heart.

You just came in hot and heavy. Like damn, even the interior?

Another long-time BMW owner here. I am more interested in the upcoming G87 than the G80, but wouldn't say that I am appalled with the brand (I have 3 in the garage now). In fact, I'm excited to see how well the G80 performs and I am hoping some of the steering and suspension improvements make their way to the G87.

In the G80s class, what would you consider to be superior at the price point?

Fact is street races are where it happens most of the time, good bad or indifferent it's a fact.

So as others said 140k vs 70k and 70k M rips it a new one, that's damn impressive
I'm sure the optional $3,800 carbon fiber buckets in your new G80 will look impressive in the rear view mirror of the $56k Tesla Model 3 Performance that just "ripped you a new one..."
I don't have g80 yet or cool bucket seats

Awd version tesla will have some serious struggles with.

I ran a performance dual motor with my manual f82 and he was able to get a good on me to about 70 and then I rolled by with about 2 cars by 100 so g80 will have easier time.

Tesla is just emotionless car, doesn't matter than 150k model s can outrun most ferraris, it's still shit to drive

Many of you are making this way too complicated.

There are people like myself who cross shop these two cars. Few if any of us can properly test the track performance of a car until we buy it. A comparison like this is very valuable. Don’t get hung up on if it’s fair or not since it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t even matter that much which car wins. What matters is to get more insight into their behavior, feel, enjoyment, strength and weaknesses when pitted against each other in a performance setting, mainly track but drag strip also provide valuable insights.

What’s been universal forever for all generations is that the M3 is incredible taken into account it’s platform and budget constraints often equaling and better the arguably best sports car in many aspects. It seems that has not changed. I have no idea why this is so painful and controversial for some.

I just don't get why people give so much weight in the forums to the opinion of strangers they will likely never meet. Hell my local M2 group has been talking so much shxt in our group chat about the G8x. I still put in my order and some of these guys I would even consider acquaintances if not friends.

Porsche will always remain the authority in chassis development and track superiority and they charge accordingly. They are not built for outright speed nor are most BMW M cars. I love my 911 but in no way do I look down at any M. Different cars built entirely differently for different purposes.

I love Porsches but god d**n they are expensive as hell and don't depreciate especially 911's. I wanted 4 doors for may daily so my F80 M3 is perfect for me. I drove a new Cayman GTS manual on the track (not my car so about 50%) and it was a great car and what I would likely get that over a 911. That car can be had for about the same as a new M4 but is a 2-seater. So maybe some day I can get a used one to replace the '95 M3 track car. Drag racing literally has no interest for me.

It was funny, the GTS automatically rev matches when downshifting but I still heel and toe'd out of habit. :-)
