Why are there Porsche owners in here justifying buying Porsche's?!? Do you not think that BMW drivers are aware? We know P car owners get a bit of anxiety at the track when M's run with and/or beat them. We don't need to be told how great higher end Porsche's are. We already know!!!

For a car that I am buying as an enthusiast to enjoy every moment of, including the most mundane trips to and from work, I don't care about losing a small amount of performance potential. There's a reason why M2 has a 50% manual take rate and the 911 GT3 is over 70%. |

Awd version tesla will have some serious struggles with. I ran a performance dual motor with my manual f82 and he was able to get a good on me to about 70 and then I rolled by with about 2 cars by 100 so g80 will have easier time. Tesla is just emotionless car, doesn't matter than 150k model s can outrun most ferraris, it's still shit to drive

Many of you are making this way too complicated.
There are people like myself who cross shop these two cars. Few if any of us can properly test the track performance of a car until we buy it. A comparison like this is very valuable. Don’t get hung up on if it’s fair or not since it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t even matter that much which car wins. What matters is to get more insight into their behavior, feel, enjoyment, strength and weaknesses when pitted against each other in a performance setting, mainly track but drag strip also provide valuable insights. What’s been universal forever for all generations is that the M3 is incredible taken into account it’s platform and budget constraints often equaling and better the arguably best sports car in many aspects. It seems that has not changed. I have no idea why this is so painful and controversial for some. |

I just don't get why people give so much weight in the forums to the opinion of strangers they will likely never meet. Hell my local M2 group has been talking so much shxt in our group chat about the G8x. I still put in my order and some of these guys I would even consider acquaintances if not friends.
Porsche will always remain the authority in chassis development and track superiority and they charge accordingly. They are not built for outright speed nor are most BMW M cars. I love my 911 but in no way do I look down at any M. Different cars built entirely differently for different purposes.

I love Porsches but god d**n they are expensive as hell and don't depreciate especially 911's. I wanted 4 doors for may daily so my F80 M3 is perfect for me. I drove a new Cayman GTS manual on the track (not my car so about 50%) and it was a great car and what I would likely get that over a 911. That car can be had for about the same as a new M4 but is a 2-seater. So maybe some day I can get a used one to replace the '95 M3 track car. Drag racing literally has no interest for me.
It was funny, the GTS automatically rev matches when downshifting but I still heel and toe'd out of habit. :-) |
