Just bought an M2 CS and just test drove an M4
It was a small test drive about 3 miles . First thing is its absolutely gorgeous.
In my small time in the car here are some pros and cons... Power omg it’s fast feels like a 8 cylinder ( felt faster then my m5) Looks really nice the carbon seats are incredible. Handles really good. Sound is really good much better then f80. The car does feel special. As soon as people start tuning it’s game over easily 10 seconds car... Some cons... Dead steering feel..... what’s wrong with car manufacturers why can’t they make there steering feel alive like Porsche.. I also have a 992 turbo s.... u can feel a rock on the ground! Clutch feels absolutely like a old potato just mush.... (not good) As great as it handles the car feels big . If you go to track days you might need to change tires and breaks more often. I need more time too see if I will buy it... but as I got older I started Appreciating drivers cars and as good as a new m4 is I don’t think a 4000 pound car could ever be that |

If the clutch feels like an old potato that is very very bad for keeping the manuals alive. How could BMW mess up on the clutch of all things? Enthusiasts are probably going to purchase this vehicle for the manual transmission since they are a dying breed, wouldn't you make sure the clutch is something to brag about?

BMWs have been using hydraulic clutches for decades now. To my knowledge there is very little "feel" in any hydraulic clutch. |

Combine that with the size, weight, and incoming AWD, I don't think 6MT this time around will be my personal choice. I say that though, but I always end up in a 6MT regardless... |

Thanks for the review. If you are used to your TTS, and it's speed struck you that I should be good. I have a tuned M2c and a tuned c4s and I have been a little worry about the "only" 406lb-ft of torque that comes with the manual.

Tbh...why people compare always Porsche to BMW?
The BMW has totally different customers and also a totally different goal during development. I'm glad I don't feel all rocks on a daily. |

I wonder whether there's some overlap for some folks when considering a purchase of a new m3 and a used Porsche 911? At least for me, this the case - between the m3 and a used 911 gts. But I realize I'm only an n of 1.

Good review. Same boat here, m2 cs. I had to lock that special and possibly last of its breed car down, but coming from an f80 I’m certainly enticed by the g80. Perfect world, pay off the cs in a couple years and add the g80 m3 as a daily, possibly lci at that point

There is an overlap. I went from and f80 m3 to an A5 and 911S cab. Now thinking about doing the reverse split back to an M3/5.
