phone holder / mount

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Anyone with a *6MT* have a phone holder they like? I think ideally something that works nicely with the cupholders?

I can't use the wireless charger in the armrest because it overheats my phone to the point that carplay disconnects (and it barely charges). I'm also hoping to avoid a suction mount on the window and the clips that go into the AC vents.

Currently I find myself simply leaving my phone in one of the cupholders, not charging.

Forgive my ignorance, but since wireless carplay and Android auto are standard, why would we need a phone holder anyway

I was considering a better option than placing my phone in the cupholder. Having thought more, I am again considering to continue doing so.

The only thing that would be nice is a holder that allowed for wireless charging and not require a phone case. Since most of those seem more intrusive than I like, I will probably keep doing what I have been.

Where do you mount it though, when I use a phone holder in my g80, it either block some of the center button or the infotainment screen

I ordered this KUDA mount on ebay from an international seller. These are harder to get here in the US than they were before, but to me, is the most elegant and utilitarian solution. No vents or buttons blocked. I can also attach a secure cradle for track duty. It's still on the way, so here's a stock photo:

Do you have to drill a hole with the Kuda Mount? I remember drilling a hole for my E38

If it's like their previous Kuda mount, they are no drill mounts that have tabs that go under trim pieces and are pressure held. Very strudy, I've never had it fall off, and I had it in 2 F30's and 2 F80's, like the same actual physical mount since they are all the same interiors.

Have you looked at the ones from Weathertech?

I put my phone in the center console cubby. It fits my iphone pro max in a spigen case perfectly.

Isn't there a mount that is hidden and attached to the factory head unit?

Not oem lol I just found it with some research.

It's called Rennmount and I was referring to an F80 mount.

It looks like they just released a specific mount for the G80.

6MT makes it hard. Kuda seems great but I hate how HUGE it is. May try the rennmount, for now I have a Spigen surface mount to the left of the iDrive display. It works okay but not the best.

Thank you. Appears it likely needs a phone case to be used.

I'm glad this is finally released, however I'm disappointed that it's blocking buttons. It was out of the way in the F80.

@jmg completely agree with you.
Will see if I could make it work with 6mt when I take delivery this month.
Hopefully someone give it a shot in the meantime.
