All-season tires?
I am interested to know availability for aftermarket tires in an all season tread with the same size for the G82 Comp 19"/20" staggered 825M wheels. Interested in the possibility of a tire with more tread life than the summer performance standard tires.
The M4C spec page shows 275/35R19 and 285/20R20. Thanks. Last edited by pgw85706; 02-07-2021 at 04:49 AM.. Reason: Include standard tire size. |

not to be offensive but...is this your first car?
I usually let this sort out the garage where I go or we have a website here in switzerland where you can buy by yourself. Just fill in the specs and you can buy... www.reifendirekt.ch for instance. but i'm not even sure if this is a troll post.... |

Actually you are correct
There is no company producing yet a match that fits this spec... you could mix and match different tires from same company I guess

so you're looking for a tire that handles snow& ice ok but not really and it also must handle 500hp and grip in summer but not really however most importantly it must last long which makes it all worth while?
not sure if this is troll either but if not I'm happy to bring to your attention that your all-seasons would be destroyed likely in half the time than running dedicated winters and summers not to mention give you crappy traction in "all seasons" |

Buy an M340i. The G80 is not meant for all seasons, as evidenced by no 19/20" combo available. You could buy an aftermarket wheel set and make A/S tires work but if you're worried about tread life, it's the wrong car for you.

I am definitely not trolling.... not even sure I know what that is. And I know a M440i would be sufficient to meet my needs, but considering to step out of the 911 back to a BMW, and considering resell.... the G82 is a smart buy and a good value. Since this is my daily driver and there is no intention to track and would never put it on snow or ice, my question is to consider an alternative tire with more treadlife. That is all I am trying to investigate. Thanks.

If you aren't spinning your rears and are not an aggressive driver a Michelin Pilot 4S (likely OEM) should last 30,000kms (18-19k miles). You should not expect an all season to last longer on a 500hp vehicle. If you were tracking, likelihood is you would run a tire in a different class such as pilot sport cup which all have super high grip and terrible tread life. Result = BMW is providing the correct tire for this vehicle. If driving in winter you would change to winters. If no winter driving leave the highly acclaimed Pilot alone. |

to answer your question, they've got 2 options that fit the car.
https://m.tirerack.com/tires/TireSea...rDiameter=20#0 continental dws 06 michelin pilot sport as3 but like others have said here, these options aren't ideal for the car. they'll fare slightly better in the wet, but the compromises you'll make in dry conditions are not worth it. |

They're both great and will handle 500 HP which you can't use on the the road anyway. |

If you buy a dedicated winter set of tires (with or w/o wheels), it would last longer having 2 sets compared to one all-season set. Going with an all-season set, you'll be giving up a lot of summer and winter traction to where it wouldn't be enjoyable. Just my opinion.

I don't think you should feel weird about wanting all-seasons on an M3. Not all of us are using the M3 for the track, and I'm going to be daily driving my G80. I just want a fast, fun daily driver, I like smaller than larger cars and M3 fits the bill for me. I currently have a 2018 RS3, tuned to 480hp, with aftermarket rims, downsized to a square 18 inch setup on Conti DWS 06's. Drove it this way for 3 years. Still have amazing fun with it, plenty of grip for launches and for taking on twisty country roads. Treadlife is still good. So I'll be getting the Conti DWS 06 Plus's for my M3, although I may go to 295/30/20 in the rears for even more comfort and meat. Looks like those are even cheaper than the 285/30/20s on tirerack. |

All-seasons are not meant for all seasons. It is bad and dangerous marketing. Regions with real winter relegate an all-season tire to 3 seasons at best. There are a few proper all-weather tires, but the point remains: you make compromises. The only reason I'd buy an all-weather (like a Nokian WRG) is because the PNW does not have a real winter. Still, my solution for years is running a dedicated set of summer tires and a dedicated set of winters, different wheels for easy swaps. I don't understand why anyone would do anything else on a G80/82 if they have to contend with temperatures below 7C with snow. I also don't understand why anyone would drive anything with over 300HP AWD or not without having the right tires for the car and the seasons.

In NYC, having storage for a set of wheels is tough, but luckily I do have a closet in my apartment that is large enough for them, but bringing them down an elevator in a doorman building to the garage is not for the faint of heart. Ideally I would not live in NYC, and would have a driveway where I could wash my car by hand with a two bucket system, but unfortunately I gotta have people I don't know put their ugly paws on my car and clean it. So I'm used to non-ideal situations. So for my sanity's sake, I tried the all seasons and one set of rims and tires with my Audi RS3 and the DWS's are a pretty good tire. Is it a Michelin PS Cup 2? hell, no. But is it a decent compromise, yes. |
