I got a discount on dealers 2nd AWD allocation. They claim 1/2/3 will be delivered around the same time.
How much of a discount? I've reached out to several dealers around me, all offering MSRP (but at least no crazy markups like in SoCal).

What'a more, one told me today their BMW rep told them delivery not expected until 2022. I was hoping for Sept/Oct.

I also put down a $1000 (refundable) deposit in Dec to be first in line, and was initially told MSRP.

I'm starting to reconsider, no discount, M5C starts to look more appealing.

if you do a courtesy delivery I have a dealer that will not sell over MSRP and might go slightly below.

Seems like they underrated the performance metrics of the rwd model and people don't realize it has more than enough grip lol I am one of these people of course 🤣 it is a pretty tough decision as I don't think you can get these cars delivered with all season tires so I'd likely need snow tires up here in NY whether I get awd or rwd and rwd + snow tires would be just fine in the winter. So if the awd isn't night and day better performance wise maybe I'm wasting my money. Although I don't know how much money I'm wasting yet lol

If they were all available at the same time I probably would have chosen AWD. I like AWD and the flexibility it gives you (+ insane speed off the line). Given timing/cost is uncertain, I went 6MT. Given it's quite possibly my last manual, I'm pretty excited for it. I think excitement factor is higher than if I'd chosen AWD

Went and test drove an m3 comp today, my SA said the AWD orders will begin in July (as we already knew) and the cars will be delivered in October. I’m #2 on the list so pretty pumped about that.

I've talked with 4 different dealers and the best info I can get out of any of them is pricing in May with orders in July for maybe a September delivery. None of them have asked for a deposit but they all know I'm intent on being one of the first in line. Nobody has promised me anything, but I've had a few comments such as "We're sure you'll be able to get an allocation" and "We will contact you as soon as orders open up." I plan on going with whoever can get me the earliest allocation at the best price, so may the best dealership win

Dealer said mid-summer AWD?

My lease is up. I have a deposit down on like the last Competition M8 coupe in country lol. Have to transport from Cali to NY.

A part of me prefers the M4 because I love the new look. I ordered one in Jan only to cancel it when the dealer said "you know this is RWD right".

I can't wait until the fall. Does anyone have a range for earliest allocations for AWD before I pull the trigger on this M8.

Some people are being told they can order in May and take delivery in July, but I think that's just dealers trying to secure the business as no one has allocations yet. Most likely time is a delivery August onwards up to September/October.

Willing to share or PM me your dealer? I may order from them at that discount. Would still be cheaper even if I had it trucked out to me.

I just had a dealer in NJ tell me 2022 *delivery* is what his BMW Rep told him. I hope that's wrong.

The semi-official start of production is July. That likely means June for the order guide. If you can get a July production spot, you're looking at late August at the earliest for delivery if you're in the US. I'm getting a G83 which should be the same SOP

The only way that would be the case is if they have a long list of people who are in line to order. If they wait until 2022 it's going to be affected by the LCI.

Agree. BMW rep at a dealer event last week said AWD builds start in July... and that doesn't mean July 1 either... could be later July. Ordering guides haven't even been released yet so if a dealer is saying otherwise, don't believe it! Those should be coming April sometime, orders start in May.

If it all goes perfectly, first deliveries here will be September, but don't be shocked if it's late in the month or even October for those first ones to hit the US east coast, if those first builds don't get delayed. Rep also said that allocations shouldn't be an issue. If the dealership gets orders, they will get cars. Found that interesting.

Given all the good reviews, like Achilles latest where he said it feels almost like AWD now, and if he didn't know better, with this much grip, he would've guessed it was already AWD! I don't need it for winter since I have a DD and I'm not planning on doing drag races anymore either. lol So, I'm just going to roll with RWD and look to have it here early summer.

So far the wait has been bearable due to work from home orders and very little driving. By October we hopefully are vaccinated for a few months and I know the wait will be become tougher for me. I do hope the press launch is very soon as in April and orders open up, that will help a lot.

My gut is max $3,000 additional for xDrive based on 2022 models for 7 series. I'm thinking Tanz | Black extended | Piano trim | Black calipers but Skyscraper | Fiona Red | CFRP trim | Red calipers would be good too!
